Part-Time Job Opening at DAAD New York

DAAD New York is seeking a creative, qualified, outgoing person to join its team as Assistant Information Officer for 20 hours/week.

This individual will help in a variety of tasks centered primarily around reaching out to students and faculty in the US and Canada to let them know of opportunities for study and research in Germany and about DAAD grants.

Responsibilities will include assisting with:

- Performing content management, and editorial and technical oversight of the organization?s English-language website (www.daad.org) and its mobile website
- Producing and creating content for weekly electronic English-language newsletter
- Writing and distributing occasional press releases
- Coordinating production and editing/updating content of annual brochures of grants for study in Germany
- Supporting Marketing Director and others in editing and production of other informational publications
- Designing advertisements to spec as needed
- Administering DAAD North America?s social media
- Helping administer annual marketing contest

HTML, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and InDesign skills, and web content management are required. Familiarity with Sales Force and Constant Contact are desirable.
Additional administrative and/or organizational responsibilities will be determined during selection process in accordance with the applicant?s background, strengths and interests.

Successful candidates will be creative, outgoing, detail-oriented individuals who ideally possess experience in print and web production. They should be native English speakers who are able to work independently as well as with a team. Knowledge of German is required. Knowledge of the German higher education system would be a plus.

This is a part-time freelance position, and pay will be computed on an hourly basis.

Summer Internship Opportunity at DAAD New York

We are currently accepting applications for a summer internship at our New York office, starting in May, ending end of August 2015.

The internship involves assisting with organizing the 15th Annual GAIN Conference of German Researchers - the largest forum for German PhD students, postdocs, and professors working in North America. A significant portion of the conference consists of a large career fair with over 60 exhibitors from all areas of the German research landscape. Duties will entail a wide spectrum of tasks from helping with administrative matters to communication with clients, as well as strategic organizational and planning activities, depending on the needs of the German Academic International Network (GAIN, www.gain-network.org).

We are looking for applicants who are
? Fluent in German in English
? Have an interest in higher education and science policy
? Like working in an office environment and are highly organized

Applicants must have a valid US work permit. We cannot sponsor a visa.

Interns will receive a stipend of $750/month.

The Summer University is a short term program taught in English focused on green buildings and the efficient use of energy in planning, constructing and maintaining a building. You will get to know technologies which are unique in the world and visit innovative buildings or building sites. Annual DAAD Sound Understanding Concert in NYC



The annual Sound Understanding Concert will take place on Thursday, April 16, 2015.
at 7:30pm, at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall in New York City.

It will feature some of the most talented and promising new musicians from Germany. These young men and women were selected in a nationwide competition among the best graduates of German music colleges. They each received a DAAD award to study for one year in the US or Canada.

The Sound Understanding DAAD Music Fellows 2014/15 include and DAAD Alumni include:

Four Funded Doctoral Fellowships in Environmental Humanities in Europe

The Environmental Humanities for a Concerned Europe research group (www.enhanceitn.eu) is now seeking applicants for twelve PhD/doctoral researchers:
Four PhD fellows at the Environmental Humanities Research Group at the University of Leeds (deadline: May 1, 2015)
Four doctoral fellows at the Rachel Carson Center at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and Deutsches Museum (deadline: May 15, 2015)
Four PhD fellows at the Environmental Humanities Lab at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (deadline: April 20, 2015)

These are fully-funded positions beginning in October 2015 to participate in a jointly-organized European program with events and training hosted by each of the partners for all twelve researchers.
