During Sukkot we move into temporary structures to celebrate. For our October project, we will focus on those who do not have the security and shelter we are so fortunate to have. The family place helps women and families start new lives and Akiba is participating in their "starter kit" drive. We would like every family to donate a new household item so that families who are starting over have the basic necessities they need to set up a home. We will have collection bins in the lower and middle schools for you to leave items such as linens (bedding, towels) and kitchen gadgets. Next time you find yourself at Tom Thumb, you can stop in their kitchen gadget section and easily pick up something while doing your grocery shopping. At the end of the month we will have a time for those who want to come and help sort the items and prepare them for delivery. (Gently used items will also be taken for donation to their resale shop).
