'34andMore Buffalo Recycles'
Unveiled on Earth Day, 2015 and launched in August, the city of Buffalo rolled out its first ever outdoor advertising campaign aimed at encouraging city residents and visitors to keep recycling. Read More about the campaign.
Oneida-Herkimer SWA Hosts Chapter 6 & 7 Meeting
The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority hosted members from Chapter 6 & 7 on Friday, September 25 for a combined meeting. In addition to sharing regional and organizational updates, attendees learned more about the Recycling Agricultural Plastics Program (RAPP) and toured the single stream materials recovery facility.
The success of an Erie County program, offering rain barrels and composters to the community, depended on community help th distribute, when over 700 units were sold. (Planners were expecting 100 units). Read More about the cooperative efforts involved.

DANC Contracts for Regional Recycling Study

The Development Authority of the North Country (DANC) recently contracted with an independent consultant for two projects that will assess recycling programs in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. Read More about the process.

Emerging Professionals Hold 2nd Meeting in Ithaca 

Individuals from Chapter 7 met at Felicia's Atomic Lounge in Ithaca on July 15 for the area's second Emerging Professionals event. Attendees enjoyed conversations and networking with like-minded individuals interested in waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting. In an effort to facilitate increased networking and education for Emerging Professionals in the field of sustainable materials management, chapters across the state will be working to offer a similar local event in their region. Look for an announcement from your chapter representative.
