Defining moments that reshape our lives...

I'VE LEARNED

Learning is a part of living…at least is should be. Many of us live only to tell about our accomplishments and mistakes, but seldom to talk about what we learned from them. A willingness to learn and change are necessary components to living a purposeful and meaningful life. Below I have listed a few things I have learned over the years. Perhaps reading them will stimulate you to think about and journal your own. One thing is for certain, the more you learn, the more apt you are to be grateful for the many things we take for granted.

What I’ve learned:

I've learned that nothing, absolutely nothing, is more important than relationships in life.

I've learned that, without an unwavering faith in God, when the tough times come, the tough fade away.

I've learned that you can tell a lot about the character of a person by these four things:

1. The people you associate with
2. The ability to say more than two sentences without using the "f" word
3. The music you listen to
4. The one's you call mentors and heroes

I've learned that you can be bitter or better in life. The choice is yours. The only difference is between the two is the letter "i."

I've learned that choices determine our circumstances and decisions determine our destiny.

I've learned that life is a journey and is neither fair nor unfair. It is just life.

I've learned that happiness is an emotion that is stimulated by circumstances and true joy comes from within.

I've learned that people sacrifice their health and relationships in pursuit of wealth, fame, and happiness only to be willing to give it all back in the end to regain the health and relationships they lost along the way.

I've learned that the benefits of eating ice cream occasionally far exceed the negative effects.

I've learned that freedom is something worth fighting for.

I've learned real love is worth waiting for.

I've learned why people turn to "religion" when life throws them a curve ball. Religion is man's plan to reach God; the gospel on the other hand, is God's plan to reach man.

I've learned freedom is a state of mind rather than a state of being.

I've learned others may attempt to destroy your reputation, but only you control your character.

I've learned home is made of people, not bricks and mortar.

I've learned that one’s true net worth is what you would be worth if you lost all your money.

I've learned there is a fine line between the power of love and the love of power.

I've learned that motivation fades and habits prevail.

I've learned friendships are made gradually but can be destroyed quickly.

I've learned it isn't how you start that matters, it's how you finish.

I've learned Solomon was right.

Reshape Moment:
Failures are life’s learning experiences. Without them, we wouldn’t grow. The Bible is chocked full of people that were used to accomplish great feats but none without obstacles, set backs and failures along the way. Take a few minutes to reflect on your failures and journal what you have learned. Remember, when we change the way we look at things, the things we look at will begin to change.
