LOCAL CONTRACTORS WIN PRIMARY ELECTIONS
|
|
Two
AGC construction industry professionals won their primary elections this month and will return to the State Legislature in 2017.
John Cyrier won his primary reelection race as the State Representative from House District 17 covering Bastrop, Lee, Gonzales, Caldwell and Karnes counties. John is the President of Sabre Commercial and has been involved with the Austin AGC for over eleven years now, currently serving as Past Chairman.
Another longtime AGC member, Paul Workman, also won his reelection campaign for House District 47 that covers the western part of Travis County, and Paul will return to the Legislature for his 4th term as a Representative. Paul is now retired from the construction industry.
As an AGC member, you should be proud that there are two business professionals in our State Legislature who understand construction risk, what it takes to run a successful small business, how to create jobs and also build a better community for Central Texans. On behalf of all AGC members, I'd like to thank both John and Paul for their public service to Texas!

AUSTIN CITY COUNCIL EXTENDS TEMPORARY CONCRETE POUR ORDINANCE THROUGH MAY
|
|
On March 31 the Austin City Council extended through May the
current, temporary rules
 for concrete placement at night and early mornings in downtown. A coalition of industry partners has been actively engaged with City Council and staff on this issue to make sure the final rules do not unfairly restrict contractors from pouring concrete downtown.
