Ontario Invests $27.8 Million in Youth Entrepreneurs
Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Research and Innovation, Daiene Vernile visited EPICentre on November 13th, to echo the announced $27.8 million investment by Ontario into the Youth Job Strategy, supporting our entrepreneurs. Following the announcement, entrepreneurs from the Windsor-Essex entrepreneurial ecosystem spoke about their businesses, including EPICentre tenants RMRD's Kyle Bassett, and MLVC's Matt Lapain. EPIC Blue Sky Competition: Win up to $1500!
This idea competition allows students to develop 2-minute video pitches in multi-disciplinary teams. The event is hosted in March, but applications are accepted at any time. Eligible applications must come from students from the University of Windsor or St. Clair College and teams of 2-4 students made up of 2 different disciplines.

EPICentre Success Story: The Collectors, Inc.
James Taylor began his journey with entrepreneurship through the Centre for Enterprise and Law in 2012. Through a mentorship program, he was granted $5000 to work on his startup - a platform to showcase specific collections worldwide. The Centre for Enterprise and Law's Mentorship Program, now three years later, has evolved to the EPICentre's EPIC Founders Program.

Kiyanoosh Shapoori Recipient of $50,000 OBI Entrepreneurs Program
Congratulations to Kiyanoosh Shapoori, one of the seven recipients of the Ontario Brain Institute's Entrepreneurs Program in September 2015 for his project titled "Development of a novel portable ultrasonic transcranial imaging system for immediate and on-site diagnosis of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in civilian emergency settings".

Fall 2015 Consulting Class
Two entrepreneurial consulting classes were offered during the Fall 2015 semester. A total of nineteen consulting students and three student project manager employees were responsible for a wide variety of client projects.

Alumni Dinners with Aaron Simms and Scott Jenkins
During the month of November students of the EPIC Odette Business Development Consulting class had the opportunity to attend dinners with successful University of Windsor alumni. Scott Jenkins, Director of Advertising for Caesars Windsor, and Aaron Simms, President and CEO of Pharma Security Group Inc. based in Toronto, were spectacular guests.

Soham Patel, a second year engineering student and aspiring entrepreneur organized a Local Hack Day in collaboration with Major League Hacking (MLH) on October 10th. The event encompassed a mini hack-a-thon that was held at the Centre for Engineering Innovation (CEI) and open to high school, university and college students. Hack-a-thons involve competing in teams to build a product or business idea, usually with a technological focus. A typical hack-a-thon runs for 36 hours, whereas the mini hack-a-thon ran for 12 hours from 9am to 9pm.
