MABVI Volunteer Appreciation and Marathon Brunch

The annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch is this Sunday, April 14 at 12 p.m. the Westin Copley Place hotel. The brunch celebrates our Marathon team and our many community volunteers who dedicate their time to help their blind and visually impaired neighbors.

This year's Jane Falk Award, which honors a volunteer for his/her service, will go to Barry O'Neill, who has been a MABVI volunteer for six years. Join us to celebrate all those who give back.

Cheer with us this Marathon Monday!

Monday, April 15 marks the 20th anniversary of the Team With a Vision members running the 2012 Boston Marathon Team With a Vision running the Boston Marathon to raise funds and awareness for the blind and visually impaired. Come join us on the sidelines of the Marathon course as we cheer our 24 sighted and visually impaired runners and their guides as they take on Boston!

This year's Team With a Vision includes incredible individuals from all over the country. Their stories include that of Tracy Wasden, a mother of four who organized the Gold Rush Half Marathon/10K/5K to help fundraise for the cause - read about her in the article "Running with a blindfold opened her eyes" in the Idaho Statesman - and Jennifer Herring, a blind athlete who will run her 18th marathon next Monday. Read Jennifer's story in The Times of Trenton article published this week. And Peter Sagal of NPR's Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me will run for the team as a sighted guide!

Blindfold Challenge at the B.A.A. 5K

The Boston Athletic Association will support the Blindfold Challenge at the B.A.A. 5K this Sunday, April 14, on the historic Boston Marathon course. Participants will run the 5k blindfolded to raise funds and awareness for MAB and partners Carroll Center for the Blind, National Braille Press, and Perkins.
