The Parks & Recreation Department will host the 'Appomattox River Regional Park 5K Trail Run' beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 2 at the park.  Proceeds go to the Friends of the Lower Appomattox River (FOLAR) and Special Olympics.

The Board of Supervisors will hold a Budget worksession at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 5 in the Board Room of the Administration Building.

Members of the Board of Supervisors will be presenting the book 'Kids Guide to Government' to Prince George County elementary schools and JEJ Moore Middle School.  The presentation schedule is: Walton Elementary School, 11:45 a.m. Monday, April 4; Harrison Elementary School, 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 5; North Elementary School, 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5; South Elementary School, 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6; JEJ Moore Middle School, 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6; and LL Beazley Elementary School, 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 6.

A traveling exhibit featuring 'Vietnam Combat Art' will be on display at the Prince George Heritage Center April 3 - 30 during normal business hours.

JLMI will hold a 'Sweet Sixteen' celebration from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 4 at its location at 5840 Allin Road, Suite B in Prince George County.

The Riverside Criminal Justice Board of Directors will hold its next meeting at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 at the Prince George County Courthouse.

The Public School Division will convene a 'Guest Panel' to discuss Special Education Services on Thursday, April 7 from 6-8 p.m. at JEJ Moore Middle School.

The Riverside Criminal Justice Agency will host a Job Fair on Friday, April 8 from 9 a.m. - 12:00 Noon at the Hopewell Community Center.

Sunflower Gardens Alzheimer's Specialty Center will celebrate its opening from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 at 5305 Plaza Drive in North Prince George.
Bethany Woosley is 5,000th PG County Facebook Follower 
Bethany Woosley became the 5,000th follower of the Prince George County Facebook page on March 24.  Bethany, a Prince George County resident, won a gift bag full of goodies.  Facebook is a major medium in which the County uses to reach out to citizens regarding information relative to County government.

  • Prince George County Varsity Baseball Pitcher Jackson Rivera is recuperating following being hit by a line drive to the face in a game March 30 vs. Ocean Lakes.

  • A house fire March 31 on Rives Road displaced a family of four.

  • Soccer practices are now underway at the new Scott Park Field #3.

  • Registration for the 2016 Citizens Academy will end May 16.  Classes will begin in June.

  • William T. Powers III has been named new President and Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM).

  • Renovations continue to move forward at the Burrowsville Volunteer Fire Station.
