The event is CrimeStoppers' fifth annual fundraising event, "Night At The Theatre," when we get the whole house at the main stage of Playhouse On The Square, 66 South Cooper Street, for a night to remember. The reception begins at 6 p.m. and the curtain rises at 8.
            
Tickets are $50 and, as friends of CrimeStoppers know from years past, that is a very good deal.

The show is inspired by the true story of a 1950s Memphis disk jockey. It was a time when AM stations were the only ones available on the radio dial, and the music from this city was pouring into a miraculous melting pot that changed the history of pop music.

CopperStoppers was created by CrimeStoppers in collaboration with businesses to fight the theft of and illegal sales, purchases and transportation out of town of copper and other scrap metals.

Copper stripped from wiring, appliances, plumbing or electrical boxes may bring hundreds of dollars when sold, but often results in thousands of dollars in damages to homes, apartments, churches and other facilities.

Special awards up to $1,000 are available for information leading to arrests.

homicide pace renews focus on 528-CASH
              
More than ever, authorities are relying on people who are witnesses or have what might be valuable information authorities need to call CrimeStoppers on our tips line,  5 28-CASH (2274).
            
Grim news came at the end of March: 60 killings in the city in less than three months. Last year, the comparable number was 37.
            
As the interim police director, Michael Rallings, said in a public statement, it requires a "collaborative effort among law enforcement and the community" to halt such an "unacceptable" increase in homicides.
            
The CrimeStoppers tips line is manned 24 / 7. Every caller remains anonymous.

CrimeStoppers and its many programs are explained - and the public is engaged - in various places on the internet.
