Giving Back
Mount Union students have a strong reputation for being dedicated to community service. Here are just a few examples of opportunities where you might find yourself giving back:
  • Relay for Life: Relay for Life is an overnight event held in the Peterson Fieldhouse designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs for the American Cancer Society. Members of teams take turns walking or running laps, and each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. Events are held nationwide, and Mount Union hosted its 2016 event on March 18-19. Check out the event Facebook page
  • Up 'til Dawn: Mount Union has raised more than $415,000.00 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by participating in Up 'til Dawn over the past eight years. In the fall, students form teams to send letters to family and friends on behalf of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Then, in the spring, students once again come together to celebrate the mission of St. Jude as well as the work they have done for the cause by revealing the total money raised by Mount Union at the Finale event. • Regula Center: The Regula Center is home to a variety of community based opportunities that allow students to prepare for careers in public service or simply get involved in the community.
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service: Coordinated by the Regula Center, students, faculty, and staff have the opportunity to participate in a variety of community service projects each MLK Day. The MLK Day of Service began with around 100 volunteers in 2010 and has grown to more than 400 in 2016, and the number of community partners participating has increased from 11 to more than 25.
