Rutgers Sustainability Initiative: No Plates in the Dining Halls
 
 


Rutgers University today becomes the first major U.S. university to no longer use plates in its dining halls. Rutgers has long been leading the sustainability movement by encouraging new and better dining practices.  Dining hall services Executive Director Joe Charette is confident that students will embrace the new plate-less protocols.   Watch the video at left.
 
Rutgers Math Professor Leading the Brain War on Terrorism
A Rutgers math professor is leading the national effort to apply complicated algorithms to stop terrorist activities, better deploy assets, detect dirty bombs and bolster security.  Rutgers professor Fred S. Roberts is on the front lines of homeland security and leads a nationwide consortium that includes Princeton University, Carnegie Mellon, USC and more than a dozen other universities. RU-Camden Women Leaders Reflect on What it Took

Before an audience of about 100, including students, faculty, and visitors, four Rutgers University-Camden colleagues talked about ways women can empower themselves.  The panel was moderated by Gail Caputo, director of Rutgers-Camden's women's and gender studies program, and included campus chancellor Phoebe Haddon (pictured at left), Kris Lindenmeyer, dean of the faculty of arts and sciences and Gloria Bonilla-Santiago, director of the Community Leadership Center at Rutgers-Camden. RU-Newark Launches New Leadership and Engagement Initiative 
Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) has launched a new initiative to strengthen relationships within Newark, while unearthing and developing untapped talent in staffers across the university. In summer 2016, five RU-N employees will begin a two-year fellowship with Leadership Newark, a program designed to cultivate leadership through immersion in public policy and engagement with social and political issues in Newark and Greater Newark. Under RU-N's agreement, Leadership Newark will accept five new employees into the fellowship each year. Read more here.
