Meet Asia Moore-one of the newest additions to the Project Coordinator family, currently active in the Season of Service Spring Semester. This high school senior is focused on senior care, and plans to use her leadership role to engage volunteers in long-term care facilities. Asia feels that seniors are often forgotten, and wants to help make a difference in their lives. Before she was referred to Jersey Cares through a teacher, she was already making a big impact on the Jersey Shore as well as in New Orleans, where she helped restore homes and beaches from the recent natural disasters. This ambitious young woman is considering law school, but plans to keep her eye on social sciences and civic engagement. Social justice is close to her heart, and she is actively engaged in events, conferences, and presenting on contemporary issues at her own high school. When she isn't changing the world, she's focused on music and plays guitar. A volunteer with an activist background and a classically-trained ear? That's music to our ears.

It was a purr-fect day of volunteering for BASF, as employees created "Life is Ruff" kits that were donated to local animals in need. Volunteers weren't kitten around as they created toys for cats and dogs from scratch using string, tennis balls, and fleece. It was impressive to see the employees work together and unleash their creativity.  They also created no-sew fleece beds for sleepy little pups and kitties to rest their weary eyes on. One would say  this was a paw-sitively productive afternoon of volunteering. At the end of the day dozens of bags of treats and toys accompanied with new animals beds were taken directly to an animal shelter in East Hanover, NJ.  Jersey Cares has no bones to pick with BASF.
