Spring break
is next week!

We're pretty sure you don't need a reminder, but just in case - remember spring break is next week, Monday through Friday, April 4-7. Enjoy the next nine days off and come back prepared to finish the school year strong!

Boys soccer wins
three in a row

The CJHS boys soccer team scored two victories on Monday and Tuesday. These were make-up games from games rained out earlier in the season. They were victorious on Wednesday as well. Way to go, Trojans!

CJHS Gymnastics
team wins meet

The CJHS gymnastics seventh grade team won Thursday's meet against the Lovett and Walker schools. All team members contributed to the win, according to Coach Nicki McGovern.

Team members are Amaia Buruchaga, Lilly Rush, Kirsten Nalley, Chloe Culverhouse, Payton Phillips, Gabbie Willingham, Keeley Morrow and Hallie Hoefling. Congratulations!

Cheerleading tryouts
information posted

Anyone who missed the CJHS cheerleading meeting but would still like to try out should go see Ms. Boyd on the seventh grade hallway to pick up the information packet and physical form. All paperwork must be submitted and a current physical must be on file on the first day of tryouts.

Tryouts will be April 12-15 from 3:45-5:45 each day. Participants must make pick-up arrangements each day after school.

Senior letters
deadline April 14

Traditions started several years ago have turned into two of the most anticipated hallmarks of a Carrollton High School senior's year - the senior breakfast, followed by the presentation of senior letters.

Please help make this a special event for our seniors by sending a letter to a friend, sibling, son or daughter, or student or former student. Please use standard letter-size envelopes, and do not include bulky enclosures or packages. Include the student's first and last name on the outside of the envelope. The deadline to submit letters is Thursday, April 14. More

Resources assist
in Milestones prep

Students at CJHS and all Carrollton City Schools will be taking the Georgia Milestone tests the last two weeks in April.

At CJHS, tests are scheduled Tuesday through Thursday, April 19-21, and Tuesday and Wednesday, April 26-27.

In order to help students and parents prepare for this important testing period, a bevy of online resources has been pulled together as a resource. This flyer provides direct links to practice tests and other useful information.

In addition to using these resources to build students' testing capacity, CJHS Principal Dr. Todd Simpson urges parents to be sure their children are getting plenty of sleep each night during the testing window and that they eat a healthy breakfast each morning, noting that school breakfast is a convenient and highly affordable option for busy households.

These CJHS eighth graders study a Kroger grocery circular to analyze and budget a grocery list.
Practical application
Eighth graders analyze
text via grocery circular

Students in Dr. Amanda Baker's eighth grade language arts class have been working on reading functional text and analyzing advertisements, so Dr. Baker combined the two with the study of a grocery circular.

Students answered questions that focused on analyzing the advertising within the grocery circulars. After closely reading the circular to determine sale items, additional discounted items, and studying the "fine print," students created a menu for the week using only items from their circular.

"They had to create a menu that was diverse, healthy, realistic, and that fit within their given budget," said Dr. Baker. "It was fun listening to students debate with one another about which items were on sale and how to best spend their money."
Remember: No checks
after spring break

Carrollton Junior High School will not accept checks after Spring Break. For those who need to make a payment by check, please have it turned in by Friday, April 1. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call the school office at 770-832-6535.

As a convenience, non-resident fees and media fines may be paid online through RevTrak.

Lunch payments can be taken care of through EZ-Pay. Contact the cafeteria for any questions regarding lunch accounts.
LFL donations needed

The Junior Beta Club is collecting gently used books for Carrollton's Little Free Library program. The LFL provides book lovers in our community and opportunity to exchange books - you can pick up a book and drop off a book all around Carrollton. CJHS even has a donation "bus" on our campus.  Books for all ages are needed. Donations from the public are also accepted. Donation boxes are located in Ms. Driver's classroom.
