Spring Gleaning!
No, it's not a typo! I meant to say Gleaning, not Cleaning. I'm not talking about gleaning crops either. When I talk about gleaning here, it's meant to be thought of as learning. Within my role as a Professional Organizer, I am a cheerleader, coach and yes, also a teacher. It's my goal to not only help my clients to get organized, but also to teach them how to maintain their new systems. I liken it to this Chinese Proverb that you have probably heard before, "
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
There really are no trade secrets that a Professional Organizer can share with you, because there really are no trade secrets! Simply put, we have natural tendencies to keeping things organized and we love to help our clients. So, how can a Professional Organizer, like me, help you to learn to love...okay, maybe love is too strong of a word...learn to
like to organize? Let me count the ways!
1) Help you uncover the areas that are giving you the most headaches. If you close your eyes and imagine walking through your entire home, which rooms leave you feeling the most stressed? Are you embarrassed to show certain rooms to your guests? Bingo, those are the areas we will work together on first!
2) Offer you a second opinion. Have you tried to get organized before? What hasn't worked for you? What has? Our shared brainstorming can uncover the perfect solutions for you!
3) Help you find instant gratification. In this fast paced world, we're all looking for that quick fix, right? Yep, I totally understand. We can pick a small drawer or shelf to get started. Perhaps you'll also uncover items that'll give you that awesome feeling...like gift cards from the holidays. Score!
4) Help you find the fun. Putting on your favorite music, wearing something comfy and keeping a drink and snack nearby are all ways of making organizing less painful. We're sure to have some laughs over discoveries of items you haven't seen in a long time!
5) Know when it's time to quit. After a certain amount of time has passed, I'll be able to sense your body language, and know if it's our time to pause and check in with each other. Perhaps it's time to take a lunch break, move onto another area to work on, or be done for the day.
Doesn't sound so bad, right? Want to learn more about how I can help you. Give me a call! I offer a complimentary 30 minute phone session. Ask me questions and I'll ask you some too, so that when you are ready to start the organizing process we can just dive in!
