Bailey & Wyant, PLLC is pleased to announce the opening of their new office in Martinsburg, W.Va. The office located at 300 Foxcroft Ave. Suite 100 B, Room 8 in Martinsburg opened Thursday, March 24.
 
Bailey & Wyant, PLLC was formed in 2000 and has offices in both Charleston and Wheeling, W.Va.. Since its inception, the firm has grown from only a handful of attorneys to its current mark of over thirty.  We provide representation to clients throughout West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania.
 
"We want to become an integral part of the Eastern Panhandle community and share in its growth. Mark Kepple, a partner in the Wheeling office, grew up in Shepherdstown. He and each member of the firm are excited about the opportunity to work with all of the businesses and people in the region," said Chuck Bailey Co-Managing Member of Bailey and Wyant. "We have a significant real estate practice so we will be involved in the legal fabric of the region immediately," Bailey added.

Continuing Education

David J. Mincer presented a seminar on ADA, FMLA, and their interplay with Workers Compensation Friday, February 26 in Huntington, WV. It was attended by both attorneys and HR professionals, who Mr. Mincer guided through the complex minefield of HR decisions involving those federal provisions. Employers need to make sure they know and understand the many requirements imposed upon them by those federal laws. Mr. Mincer helps employers both with guidance to avoid potential claims and with defending claims after they've been advanced.


On Thursday, February 25 and Friday, February 26, 2016, several attorneys from Bailey & Wyant presented a seminar on Advanced Issues in Personal Injury Law. David Mincer presented topics on negotiating complex claims and ethical considerations in personal injury actions. Jordan Herrick presented an update on the law applicable to the field and tips on the use of social media. Brian Morrison presented topics on insurance coverage and advanced accident investigations. Justin Taylor presented proper use of medical records and getting the most out of expert witnesses. Jenny Tully presented information about Medicare and the Affordable Care Act's impact on settlements. Trigg Salsbery presented Voir Dire Jury Selection and Advanced Trial Strategies.

Co-Managing Member, Charles "Chuck" Bailey presented the "Trial Essentials for Police Liability Cases" portion of the Police Liability Claims from Start to Finish seminar earlier this month.

ATTORNEY PROFILE
    Dave Schumacher is a Member in Bailey & Wyant, PLLC 's Charleston office.
Mr. Schumacher was admitted to the West Virginia State Bar in 1980 and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.        Dave obtained his law degree from West Virginia University College of Law in 1980 and his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia in 1977, graduating  Summa Cum Laude and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
    His civil litigation practice areas include general civil litigation & insurance defense, medical & healthcare malpractice, product liability & personal injury law, governmental liability, insurance coverage & unfair trade practices, and legal & other professional liability. He has acted as mediator in the areas of personal injury, medical and complex claims for nearly twenty years.
    Mr. Schumacher was Counsel for the West Virginia Senate Education Committee during the 1984 Legislative Session. From 1986-1990, he served as Treasurer and President of the West Virginia Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia from 2001-2006.
