The sun is out, spring has arrived, and things are blooming at the Hollywood Farmers Market. Starting in April we return to weekly Saturday market, and also hail the beginning of 8am opening for the season (early birds get ready!).

ter a winter's rest several vendors return this week to feed us. ProFarm Produce will be offering bundles of asparagus, and Swe
et
L
eaf Farm will have their signature carrots among many other nourishing delights.
Also making their
2016 debut are Buns on the Run, Gabriel's Bakery, Hammer & Tuffy's Hand Roasted Granola, Harvest Nursery, Ken & June's Hazelnuts, and Mocha Roma's Coffee.
We also have a couple of our new vendors for 2016 kicking off the season; be sure to stop by Portland Juice Company and Little Handfuls Organic to say hello, welcome them to the neighborhood, and of course sample their delicious offerings.
Travel on two wheels, because Bikes for Humanity will be joining us again at market! Offering free bicycle repairs and safety checks for the community, we are excited to have them on board and expect to have them at market at least once a month going forward.
An exciting community project! Plans are in the works to complete a street painting on our beloved Hancock Street sometime this summer. The project aims not only to beautify the farmers market, but also to unite the neighborhood community around the painting and to leave a reminder of the market on the street throughout the week. We are very excited about the project and hope that you will be too! The exact location and artwork to be painted are yet to be determined. If you are interested helping spread the word, recruit volunteers, draft a design, or complete the final painting email Sarah at [email protected]. Sarah will also have an informational table at the market this Saturday!
Are you searching for new ideas on how to prepare your farmers market bounty? Or do you have a stack of long forgotten cooking magazines or cookbooks? Lucky for you our dear Ramona of Nourishment is piloting a HFM Cookbook & Recipe Community Library, and there you can both borrow a cookbook or recipe for finding inspiration, or you likewise you can leave some you may have for others to find.
