ROAD WORK AHEAD!
To keep you informed of road work underway, we've created several ways you can check on what work is happening around the city.  We'll post reminders monthly in this e-newsletter. However, you can check daily either on our website on our Road Work Advisory page (Residents tab - Road projects - or short URL: http://spr.gs/roadwork) or via the Sandy Springs Works app (free in the app store) by clicking Road Work.
Coming up:
Beginning April 18, the intersection of Mt Vernon and Sandy Springs Circle will close completely for construction needed as part of the road improvements surrounding the City Springs development.  The intersection is expected to reopen early summer.  Detour signage will help direct your travel in the area.   Click here to access the Road Work Advisory page and the detour maps.   While the intersection is closed, the businesses in that area are OPEN for Business. We know they'll appreciate your continued patronage during this construction time.
Lane closures will continue primarily at night on Roswell Road from Cliftwood to Hammond Drive as new streetscape is installed.
Lane closures are also expected at night and on weekends at Riverside Drive and I-285 as the Ga. Dept of Transportation installs roundabouts.
ESSAY CONTEST FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Each year, the American Bar Association hosts a variety of Law Day activities. To mark  the 50th anniversary of perhaps the nation's best-known U.S. Supreme Court case, this year's Law Day theme is "Miranda: More than Words."  The Miranda Warning, which was developed in response to this ruling, apprises suspects being interrogated by police of their right to remain silent and their right to legal representation.
The Sandy Springs Municipal Court and the Sandy Springs Bar Association will co-sponsor an essay contest for high school students following the theme, "Miranda: More than Words." The first place winner will receive $100, the second place winner will receive $75, and the third place winner will win $50. Entries will be judged on content, personal reflection, originality, craftsmanship and adherence to the theme. The deadline for entry is April 22, 2016.
Essays do not have to be longer than 500 words and students can submit their entries via email to: entry@sandyspringsga.gov, or by mail: Law Day, c/o City of Sandy Springs, 7840 Roswell Road, Building 500, Sandy Springs, Georgia 30350.
For more information, visit the Law Day page on the City's website
