APPNA mourns the loss of life in the terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University

APPNA condemns the cowardly terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University on Wednesday January 20, 2016 that killed 21 people. As yet unidentified gunmen entered Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkha's Charsadda town and opened fire on students and faculty members as they gathered for a poetry recital to commemorate the death anniversary of the activist and leader Bacha Khan, who the university is named after.

We pay particular tribute to Assistant Professor Syed Hamid Hussain who engaged the attackers, giving time for students to escape. He died defending an educational institution and innocent people, and he will be long remembered with the many heroes that have died in terrorist attacks across Pakistan.

We urge the Government of Pakistan to take effective and continuing steps to end the scourge of terrorism and give priority to the security of academic institutions.
