Blue Sky Competition 2016 Results
On March 15th, 2016, students across campus gathered for the 2nd annual Blue Sky Competition viewing night. Each group was composed of 2-4 students from a variety of different disciplines ranging from business to engineering to creative arts. The requirement for the competition was to create a 2-minute video pitch of a business idea that solved an every day problem in the world.

UWindsor student places second overall at Stu Clark Investment Competition
Kyle Bassett, a PhD student (Engineering), is the first University of Windsor student to ever compete in the SCIC. He travelled to the competition with a mentor from the Odette School of Business, Dr. Thomas Kenworthy. Kyle placed second overall out of 16 teams from North America and Thailand. He was awarded $10,000 CDN for the finish and $1000 CDN for the top Canadian university.

UWindsor students reach semi-finals in Canada's Business Model Competition
On March 4th-5th, Luciana Giglio (Mechanical, Automotive & Materials Engineering) and Scott Sanger (Odette School of Business), alongside Professor Ali Abdulhussein (Joint AAS - Engineering & Business), attended Canada's Business Model Competition at Dalhousie University in Halifax where they reached the semi-finals of the competition.

Faculty of Human Kinetics hosts 10th Annual Kinesiology Research Day
On March 22, the Faculty of Human Kinetics (HK) celebrated its 10th annual Kinesiology Research Day with over 50 research projects being presented throughout the day. Research from a variety of areas were covered including Sport and Exercise Psychology, Socio-cultural Studies, Pedagogy, Sport Management, Biomechanics & Ergonomics, Physical Activity, Health and Cardiovascular Research and Motor Behaviour and Lifespan Development. Enactus Windsor participates in regional exposition
Enactus Windsor competed in the Enactus Regional Exposition for Central Canada on Friday March 11th. Over 26 different Canadian Enactus teams from Ontario and Quebec were present, competing for a spot at the National exposition in Toronto with over 70 teams altogether competing in four different challenges.

On March 1, EPICentre and Genesis St. Clair officially launched the first ever off-campus Startup Mashup networking event at Rock Bottom Bar & Grill to much success. Over 30 students came out to network and discuss various start-up ideas. Previously, EPICentre held these networking events at EPIC Innovation.

Faculty Fellows Profile: Dr. Rupp Carriveau
Dr. Rupp Carriveau is an associate professor at the University of Windsor within the faculty of Engineering. Dr. Carriveau alongside Dr. Ting helped to pilot the first ever underwater energy storage system. The system seeks to store energy off peak that can be generated by gas, wind or solar outlets, energy which would otherwise be lost upon generation.

EPICentre hosts IP Strategy and Legal Resources Info Session
On Tuesday March 8th, EPICentre hosted an intellectual property info session to provide students and entrepreneurs with valuable information on intellectual property strategy. Maya Medeiros, a lawyer and patent/trademark agent from the law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, presented to over 40 participants about the key considerations of intellectual property strategy from a start up perspective.

OCE GlobalStart Pitch Competition 2016
Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) will hold its first GlobalStart Pitch Competition at Discovery 2016, this year in partnership with the Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development (KISED).
Three Ontario companies will be selected as finalists to compete for an OCE GlobalStart award of $15,000 to help them access the first global market that they have identified.
