Join us for a free screening of HBO's Alzheimer's Project film Caregivers followed by discussion and sharing of experiences around caring for people with dementia in all its forms.

Caregivers is "a collection of family portraits, each of which highlights the sacrifices and successes of people experiencing their loved one's gradual descent into dementia."
 
This offering is part of Hospice Caring's Seasons of Caring Community Education Series and is appropriate for caregivers, family members, and ALL who are interested in the topic of Alzheimer's/dementia. Light refreshments will be provided.

Pull out your denim and diamonds for Hospice Caring, Inc's 2nd annual fundraiser featuring live music by the 
Bobby Lewis Blues Band

The evening will include live blues & blues-influenced music, dancing, and raffle prizes. Light snacks will be provided, and a cash bar will serve soft drinks, beer, wine, and mixed drinks.
New Year, New Groups
Hospice Caring's bereavement peer support groups allow participants to meet others who are going through a similar experience, share their stories and learn from one another. 
 
Groups now forming include:
-Adult Child Loss
-Coping with a Suicide Loss
-Parent Loss
-Spousal Loss, ages 50+
-Spousal Loss, ages 70+

Groups meet for 8 weeks at a mutually convenient time for all group members.  Most groups meet at our office in Gaithersburg on weekday evenings between 7-8:30 pm. Groups are provided at no charge and county residency is not required.
 
Additional groups are formed based on community need.

New Volunteer Training March 8, 9 & 10
Sign up for our three-day New Volunteer Training for those interested in becoming hospice caregivers and bereavement facilitators. 
 
Our next training session is March 8, 9 & 10 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm at the Hospice Caring Cottage.

Camp Caring Accepting Applications

Camp Caring is a FREE overnight weekend camp for children, grades 2-5, who are grieving the death of a loved one. 

At camp, the children are paired with trained adult Big Buddies to explore their feelings through sharing memories, expressive arts, trust and bonding activities and recreation.  Video.

 
Camp Caring 2016 will be held June 3-5.

Good Grief Club Expansion Project
Hospice Caring, Inc. is proud to announce the broadening of its school-based Good Grief Club program to provide support to grieving children and families in many of the languages spoken in Montgomery County.

This project is a partnership between Hospice Caring, Inc., the City of RockvilleFamily Services, Inc.Mental Health Association, and the YMCA Youth and Family Services.  We are grateful to the New York Life Foundation
 for funding the project through a Grief Reach grant of $100,000 over a two year period.  Press Release.

A Good Grief Club Expansion Project Kick-Off Breakfast will be held at  8:30 am on Tuesday, February 16  at the Hospice Caring Cottage  for partners of the project, interested community members, and members of the press.

Many thanks to the  National Lutheran Communities and Services ' (NLCS) Community Impact Council for awarding Hospice Caring a generous grant to support Volunteer Helping Hands, our Patient and Family caregiving program.  We are honored to be among the 21 organizations in the region who received a grant this year.

Practical Support for Terminally ill Patients

Volunteer Helping Hands is Hospice Caring's Patient and Family program, offering practical and emotional volunteer support  without charge  to terminally ill children and adults with a prognosis of twelve months or less. ( Patients do not have to give up curative treatment to be eligible).
 
Services are provided without charge and typically include:
*support and patient advocacy
*companionship and practical care
*assistance with household tasks 
*limited transportation to doctor and treatment appointments
