Andrew Schons:
Andrew received his B.S. in multicultural and ethnicity studies from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and his M.S. in international politics from Uppsala University, Sweden. He served as a research intern and contractor with the United Nations in New York, and currently works in program development with the State of Minnesota. He is looking forward to working with UNAMN staff and Board members to develop its Model UN Programs and to continue to advocate for the goals and missions of the United Nations.
Arundhati Deo:
Arundhati Deo was born in India and raised in the U.S. She attended the Macalester College for her BA and the University of Minnesota for her PhD in chemistry and MBA. As part of the MBA program, Ms. Deo had the opportunity to take courses abroad that focused on international business and corporate social responsibility. Ms. Deo is currently working in banking at Wells Fargo. She is looking forward to being a part of the UNAMN and sharing her expertise in finance, internal audit and wealth management.
Eli Robiner:
Eli Robiner recently graduated from Carleton College
, where he majored in sociology/anthropology and was active in several campus clubs
including, Model UN!
After a year of tutoring middle school students with AmeriCorps, he is now the Program and Operations Coordinator at World Without Genocide.
As a UNAMN board member, he's excited
to connect with like-minded people
committed to tackling
our most pressing issues and helping the organization improve the scale and impact of its Model UN program.
Laura Allen:
Laura Allen is a radiologist at Park Nicollet/Health Partners in Saint Louis Park, MN. She has always been interested in international affairs and raising awareness for issues on a global level. She became most interested in the United Nations particularly in the last two years through international travel and with recent issues abroad (such as the earthquakes in Nepal), for which the UN was able to offer significant aid and make a huge positive impact in people's lives. She is now looking forward to offering her time and services to the United Nations on a local level to help achieve its global goals. Helping with advocacy and raising awareness are her top choices.
Megan Bender:
Raised on tater-tot hot dish and folklore of the north, Megan is a native Minnesotan with an affinity for all things Scandinavian. From 2009-2010 she served as a Rotary International Youth Exchange Student in Denmark, and the experience catalyzed a life-long pursuit to promote global relations. Megan serves as Justice Associate
working locally, nationally and globally for systemic change primarily by the means of the working and task groups of the Justice Commission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and Consociates. The UNAMN's dedication to global cooperation through education and advocacy inspired her to serve on the Programs Committee.
Steve Werle:
Steve Werle was born and raised in Rochester, Minnesota and teaches Advanced Placement United States History in the Twin Cities. He graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1994 with a B.A.A. in Teaching Secondary Social Studies and earned a master's degree from the same institution in 1999. He has taught a variety of high school history courses for over twenty years and has authored two books; An American Gothic: The Life & Times & Legacy of William Gates LeDuc, and Stassen Again. As a Board Member of the UNA-MN, Steve is looking forward to working on advocacy and raising both funds and awareness.
Vanessa Uko:
Vanessa Uko is a first year JD candidate at the University of Saint Thomas School of Law. Before becoming a graduate from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where she obtained her B.S in Psychology, she developed her passion in the promotion of the role of the diaspora in International Development, the diversification of the African affairs workforce, the advancement of women's leadership. She was the President of the Diaspora African Women's Network (DAWN) and the African Student Association during 2013-2014. She also served as the Development Associate for the UNAMN. Now, as a Board Member of UNAMN, Vanessa is committed to raising awareness by helping to educate young students on different current issues and events.
