THE BRIDGE TO SECONDARY SUCCESS * VOLUME 3 ISSUE 12/ MARCH 31, 2016
Rockin ' the house!

CMS Singers not only performed well, but it was evident they well enjoyed performing. The Rock 'n Roll theme and outstanding choreography made for great final performances for Ms. Susan Fields, director, who will be retiring at the end of this school year. The CMS Singers performed for  their  peers last Friday and their final show for parents and friends was held Monday night, both in the Mabry Center for the Arts.
Senior letters
deadline April 14

Traditions started several years ago have turned into two of the most anticipated hallmarks of a Carrollton High School senior's year - the senior breakfast, followed by the presentation of senior letters.

Please help make this a special event for our seniors by sending a letter to a friend, sibling, son or daughter, or student or former student. Please use standard letter-size envelopes, and do not include bulky enclosures or packages. Include the student's first and last name on the outside of the envelope. The deadline to submit letters is Thursday, April 14.  More

Milestones to be held
after spring break

Students at CMS and all Carrollton City Schools will be taking the Georgia Milestone tests the last two weeks in April.

Tests are scheduled Tuesday through Thursday, April 19-21, and Tuesday through Thursday, April 26-28.

In order to help students and parents prepare for this important testing period, CMS Assistant Principal Laura Malmquist has pulled together a bevy of online resources. This flyer provides direct links to practice tests and other useful information.

In addition to using these resources to build students' testing capacity, CMS Principal Dr. Andre Touchard urges parents to be sure their children are getting plenty of sleep each night during the testing window and that they eat a healthy breakfast each morning, noting that school breakfast is a convenient and highly affordable option for busy households.

Dedicated CMS teachers volunteered last Saturday to work with a group of students and parents to prepare for the upcoming Georgia Milestone tests. Here, Ms. Ashley Strickland works with a family on an order of operations problem.
Gold Club setting the Gold Standard

These CMS students are members of the Gold Club and recently took a trip to Phillips Arena, home of the Atlanta Hawks. Gold Club is a group of gentlemen who have potential to be great leaders at CMS. Each of these young men has been assigned a mentor in the school. One of the weekly activities is a "Dress for Success" event on Wednesdays.
