THIS WEEK'S SCRIPTURE
PASTOR'S BLOG
Greetings Cascade Family and Friends,

Easter Sunday 2016 has to go down as one of the most memorable in the history of Cascade United Methodist Church.  We had so many different and wonderful things to celebrate. Clearly, as our children and youth presented their Easter messages, we could see a glimpse into a bright future. Our time, engagement, and nurturing resulted in a harvest of blessings last Sunday.  Every age group was well represented, and all did an outstanding job at fulfilling the tasks they had been given.  I witnessed communication, collaboration, and cooperation at its best!

I know that I may sound like a broken record, but Cascade, we are a blessed church.  As Pastor King and I sat on the front row and listened to the speeches, we recognized "young preachers" in our midst. There were several--both boys and girls--who stood out in that regard.  The children's choir has never sounded better in my opinion.  The youth did a phenomenal job of portraying the various persons who encountered Jesus on His way to the cross.  The message was clearly stated with assurance.  I really do believe it was more than a performance for most of them.  They felt the passion in their hearts and were also convinced that our Savior was alive and Our Hope is in Jesus.

As a child growing up in Varnado, Louisiana, we were given the opportunity to act out the story of Jesus and His resurrection on Easter Sunday.  I am convinced that it not only helped us to remember the message of the risen Christ, but it also gave us the confidence and comfort to become public speakers. Our Easter experience played a major role in our overall personal development.  With certainty, we are doing the same thing with our young people at Cascade. To God Be the Glory!  We can only imagine where similar opportunities will lead; however, at the same time, we can confidently trust and believe they will lead to something great.

Thank you Cascade parents, leaders, volunteers, and members for investing in our young people and trusting them with the important tasks of contributing to who we are.  Their journey and their work serve as proof that God has big plans in mind for Cascade UMC.  The good news is our children and youth are discovering their gifts, realizing their purpose, and providing HOPE for a productive future.

Blessings,
Pastor Lawrence L. Young
