Lehigh Valley Wine Trail
April 2016
Nine Wineries with One Love

We're excited to have our wine trail's brand new promotional brochure designed by Lehigh Valley Style out in circulation this week. It was attached to the April issue of their magazine and also Berks County Living , and is arriving now in mailboxes and on newsstands.

Discover Lehigh Valley will also be distributing it for us at their 60+ brochure racks throughout the Lehigh Valley. And our 9 wineries will of course have them on hand too.

Pick up your copy this spring during your visits to our wineries, or download it here (PDF).

A Word from the Wine Trail
by Mandy Tolino of Tolino Vineyards

Farm to Table. Local. Craft.

All of these are buzz words you are inundated with when making decisions about what to buy. But for Tolino, and the other eight wineries of our wine trail, they are not just buzz words but rather they describe who we are:

Farm to Table: All member wineries grow wine grapes to make wine. The grapes are grown in our field, driven by tractor up to the winery to be crushed, pressed, fermented, blended, bottled, and labeled to be ready for sale in our tasting room onsite. Buying wine from a local winery is a great way to support local farms.

Local: Aside from growing grapes and making wine, many of us help to promote local vendors by hiring local cheese artisans, musicians, food trucks, artists, and restaurants. We also employ local residents in our tasting room.

Craft: At Tolino Vineyards we grow our grapes, craft our wine, and sell it all on our property in Bangor. All the wineries on the trail take pride in crafting a variety of wines, from sweet to dry, red to white. Grape growing and wine making is physically strenuous, sometime tedious, but always rewarding.

We invite you to visit our trail's nine locally owned and operated wineries this spring to taste the fruits of our labor.
Three Questions with... Jan Landis of  Vynecrest in Breinigsville

For April we interviewed Jan Landis of Vynecrest and wanted to know the following things from her:

1. What is happening in the vineyard during April, and what is the status of the wines being made from the 2015 harvest?

2. The wine trail's annual Vino in the Valley event just ended. What do you think are some of the things that wine lovers enjoyed most about this year's event?

3. What exciting events and new wine releases does Vynecrest have coming up this spring?

Winery of the month:
Blue Mountain Vineyards

For over 25 years, Blue Mountain has produced a wide range of wines from grapes grown in the Lehigh Valley's New Tripoli, Pa.

The region has an incredible micro climate similar to that of the northern Burgundy region of France, as well as the southern part of the Loire Valley. Pair that with soil that is rich with shale and limestone and you have a recipe for world class "old world" style wines.
