Thank you for your interest in the General Mitchell
International Airport (MKE) Airfield Update. This newsletter is intended to keep
you up-to-date on airfield construction projects, regular maintenance, and
special events that could impact the standard flow of arriving or
departing air traffic.
This year's airfield construction projects, along with our regular annual maintenance projects, will begin in May. This could result in changes in aircraft operations over your neighborhood.
- The main north-south runway (1L/19R) will be closed from May through July, which means the east-west runway will be the primary commercial runway in use.
- Runway 13/31, which is typically used by small aircraft and business jets, will be closed for pavement rehabilitation from May through June.
- There will be no Milwaukee Air & Water Show this year. The event has been rescheduled for July 15-16, 2017 and will feature the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels.
- We are not expecting any major airfield work this year at Timmerman Airport, the General Aviation reliever airport located on Milwaukee's northwest side.
