Capture our changing environment
Our first two FlukerPosts are in the ground at Oaklands Wetland.
The FlukerPosts are part of a UniSA citizen science program that allows everyday people the chance to contribute to scientific research while getting up close with nature.
FlukerPosts are robust location markers, (and often look like a timber post in the ground). They have easy-to-follow instructions for people who happen to walk by - inviting you to take a photo with a camera or smartphone to submit to the Discovery Circle via email.
You can find the FlukerPosts just off the footpath on the hill overlooking the upper (southern) wetland - you can't miss them as you walk around.
Over 20 photos have already been submitted - check them out!
Find out how you can get involved.

Painted yourself into a corner with old paint?
Paint is only hazardous when it is wet.
Dry paint is perfectly safe to dispose of in your waste bin.
You can dry and harden it for disposal at home. Harden paint by either:
- leaving the lid off
- adding a paint hardener purchased at a hardware store.
Once hard, tap the tablet of paint out of the tin and put in the waste bin. If there's only a small amount of paint left, instead of hardening it you could pour it over newspaper or kitty litter and when that has dried, it can go into the waste bin. The empty and dry paint tin can go in the recycling bin.

Wild Pollinator Count, April 10th -17th
We know that bees play an important role in pollinating our plants.
But there are also thousands of butterfly, wasp, thrip, moth and beetle species that are pollinators.
Canyou can spare 10 minutes to sit, quietly in nature and observe a flower?
The information you gather will help build a picture of these pollinators, including what flowers they pollinate and where they are found.
