Katy ISD Board of Trustees Reviews Final ABM Recommendation

During Monday's Work Study Meeting, Katy ISD's Board of Trustees was presented with the final Attendance Boundary Modification (ABM) recommendation to balance enrollment numbers and provide relief to landlocked campuses exceeding 125 percent capacity as the District prepares to open three new schools in 2016-2017.

The Board was presented with the preliminary ABM proposal at the November 16 Work Study meeting, and parents, staff and community members have since provided feedback through a variety of sources, including an online survey available in English and Spanish. The Board and District administration took parent and community members' feedback into consideration as a new ABM option was designed to provide relief to West Memorial Elementary, as well as address the majority of concerns cited by parents in the survey feedback. More than 8,800 parents, staff and community members participated in the ABM survey.

The recommended ABM proposal was moved to consent agenda by the Board of Trustees at the December 7 Work Study Meeting and will be placed on the Board agenda for approval at the December 14 meeting. Click here for more information on the ABM process.
