FC Takes Second in Sweepstakes at NEDA National Tournament
Fullerton College debaters took home numerous awards and finished second to Ball State University in the overall "Sweepstakes" title during the 19th National Education Debate Association (NEDA) National Championship on March 11 and 12. The debate was co-hosted by Fullerton College and Cal State Fullerton at FC's campus.

The Student Health Services Office will kick off National Public Health Week with a Spring Health Fair on Monday, April 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the quad. The resource fair will feature health information, screenings, and the opportunity to connect with health service providers and wellness organizations from across Orange County. Sociology Club Sock Collection for the Homeless
The Sociology Club is hosting a collection for new socks for men, women and children to donate to Pathways of Hope, a local homeless shelter in Fullerton. There is a drop-off box in Office Suite 1423 or socks can be sent to Angie Andrus through campus mail. Contact Andrus for more information at

2nd Annual Veterans Career and Resource Fair
The VRC will host their second annual career and resource fair on Thursday, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Quad. This year's fair will feature more than 50 employers and resource vendors who can help connect students to employment opportunities. Students are encouraged to bring their resumes and dress for success. Opportunity drawings will also be available to students participating in the fair. Focus on Sentence Creation at the Writing Center
The Sentence Types workshop will review the basics of simple sentences and cover more complicated sentence types including adjectives and adverb clauses. This workshop on Tuesday, March 29 at 3:15 p.m. is most suitable for all levels of ESL and ENGL 039, 059, 060 and 099 F classes. The workshop, When is a Sentence Not a Sentence?, will teach students to write sophisticated, yet grammatically correct sentences and how to avoid fragments. This workshop is on Friday, April 1 at 11:30 a.m., and is suitable for all students. Both workshops are in Building 800, Room 808A.
Keeping Your Cool: No Stress Strategies for Taking Exams
Basic Skills is offering this student success workshop on Thursday, March 31 from 10 to 11 a.m. in Building 800, Room 808A.

Admission Decisions Part 4
This workshop, on April 1 at noon, provides students with assistance on their admissions notices. Topics include acceptance and denial notices; being placed on an admissions wait list; how to determine which campus is the best fit; accepting an admission offer; enrollment confirmation deposits; appealing a denial notice, and dropping and/or failing spring courses, transitioning to the university. Students must RSVP to the Transfer Center by visiting Building 200, Room 212.

FC Music Professor Inducted in Jazz Hall of Fame
The University of Northern Iowa School of Music will induct FC professor James Linahon into the Jazz Hall of Fame on April 8 for his contributions as a trumpeter, music educator, professional music producer and role model at UNI. After completing his studies at UNI and earning his master's degree from the University of North Texas, Linahon moved to Los Angeles where he performed in the band of legendary artist Frank Sinatra.

Music faculty will collaborate in ensemble and solo performances to showcase a wide range of musical styles and interpretations. The inaugural Fullerton College Music Faculty Recital is open to all music lovers, with a special invitation to students majoring in music. The recital is in the Campus Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
This concert is directed by Anthony Mazzafero in the Campus Theatre on Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and $7 for seniors and students.

Baseball
The Hornets ended a busy Spring Break on Thursday defeating LA Pierce College 6-0 at home.
Up Next: The Hornets (18-3 overall, 6-0 OEC) will resume conference-play on Tuesday, March 29 at Orange Coast College. Game time is at 2 p.m.

Softball
After beating Orange Coast College 5-2 at home on Tuesday, the Hornets fell on the road the next day to Santiago Canyon College 5-1.
Up Next: Fullerton (16-11 overall, 6-4 OEC) will play another big conference game at Cypress College this Wednesday, March 30 at 3 p.m.
Swim and Dive
The Hornet's hosted an Orange Empire Conference event last Friday where they faced off against Riverside, Orange Coast, Golden West, Cypress Saddleback and Santa Ana colleges. The women's team took fifth place overall with 276 points. The FC men's team placed sixth overall with a score of 165.
Up Next: The Hornets will compete at the Pasadena City College Invitational on April 8 and 9.
Men's Track and Field
The men's track team came away with victories against Golden West and Santa Ana colleges in an Orange Empire Conference duel meet. The wins are new head Coach Sean Sheil's first as a Hornet. Pablo Perez won the 800m with a time of 1:57 and came back to take third in the 3000m. Kenneth Griffin won the 100m dash and teammate Kyle Calderon took second in the 40m in 51.88. In the jumps, Noel Dominguez took second in both the long and triple jump. In the throws, the Hornets swept the javelin. Carlos Luna, Braxton Word, and Johnny Bravo went first to third respectively. Francisco Padilla took third in the shot put.
Up Next: FC will go back at it this Saturday, April 2 when they travel to San Diego Mesa College for the Arnie Robinson Invitational.
Women's Track and Field
The Hornets traveled to Santa Ana College for their second OEC meet of the season. Jasmine Mendoza ran her best times of the year in the 100M 13.24 and won the 200M in 26.87. Mendoza took second place running 1:16.58 in the 400M Hurdle race as teammate Sam Duong won the race in 1:05.68. Duong also won in the 100M hurdles with a time of 16.94 and ran the 200M in 27.17. Kim Flores gave herself a win in the 800M with 2:45 and Belen Gonzalez won the 1500M with an effort of 5:15.24. Duong and Madison Fitzpatrick picked up the second and third place in javelin. Cydney Chavers set a PR in the shot put as she won it with a toss of 35' 4". Amber Hernandez got on board and threw her PR of 31' 5.25". Chavers is ranked eighth in conference and Hernandez climbed to 12th place in the shot put event. Fitzpatrick had her PR in the javelin 82' 1" and discus with 91' 4".
