PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

YOUR VOTE IS CRITICAL

During the past few months the Mt. View Republican Club has conducted a study that revealed approximately half of the eligible Republican voters in the Foothill area communities DO NOT VOTE in every election. If you think your vote doesn't matter consider the following:

1.      Except for the Presidential election, all other elected offices in the Calif. general elections consists of the two candidates who receive the highest number of votes in the primary. That means it is possible that two Democrats may be competing against each other in the general elections. Unfortunately in some California elections there have been NO Republicans competing for these State offices. THINK YOUR VOTE DOESN'T COUNT?

2.      In the past, State elections for Republican candidates have lost by less a 5% margin. Still THINK YOUR VOTE DOESN'T COUNT?

3.      The 2016 Presidential election has never been more important than now, because the newly elected President will, most likely, pick the next Supreme Court Justice. Given the age of the other Justice's, that could be three or four appointments over the next four years. Still THINK YOUR VOTE DOESN'T COUNT?

4.      During the 2016 Presidential primary California Republicans, for the first time in years, will probably be  deciding who the Republican Presidential candidate will be. Still THINK YOUR VOTE DOESN'T COUNT?

We have an excellent chance to make a statement in California. To let Sacramento and incumbents know they work for us. We need to hold on to the House, the Senate and the Assembly. We need to elect a Republican to be the next President of the United States of America.  In order to make sure that happens we need to vote in the primary.

The Mt. View Republican Club is working diligently to get out the Republican vote. All our local, state and national candidates need our help. If ALL Republicans vote in the primary and general elections we can be victorious .....yes even in California.

As soon as we have our HQ open we will be asking all who wish to volunteer to sign up for walking door to door, phone banking, putting together literature packets and giving time to meet and great people at the office.

Jon Hart, our Precinct Chairman has given a lot of time and effort to organizing our callers. I hope more of you will step forward and offer your time. Nothing is too little as far as what you can do. You can call Jon Hart at 909-621-2079 or the Club at 909-305-3717 to volunteer.

California Matters and this is our time to SHOW UP, VOTE AND MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD.

Victory 2016,
Judi Neal, President, and
Jon Hart, Precinct Chairman

FROM MY PERSPECTIVE

     By Carolyn Gonzales

"Last week I was in New York City, and I visited Ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial.  It reminded me of the time I visited Pearl Harbor. Standing on the Arizona Memorial, tears gathered in my eyes and I blinked rapidly hoping to prevent them from escaping. Being a Naval veteran,  I thought about the sailors who gave their life on Dec. 7 in 1941.   My sadness was eased because I knew America had made it right.  We defeated our enemy.

Being at Ground Zero reminded me of Pearl Harbor.  The solemn tribute to those who died on Sept. 11, 2001, was an emotional experience, and the lump in my throat sometimes prevented me from speaking.  As I left the Museum, I was not comforted, for unlike Pearl Harbor where America made it right,  we have not yet made 9/11 right.  It is without closure."                            Tony Gonzales

GROUND ZERO - A REFLECTION IN TIME

They filed through the exhibits, strangers brought together by a shared loss.  They looked at the twisted and mangled steel beams, and touched Ladder Company 3 Fire Truck.  They read handwritten postings:  "Missing, Has anyone seen my son...our daughter is missing, if you see her, please call....."pictures of wives, husbands, sons, daughters all taped or stapled on a makeshift community board.  Families looking for loved ones, hoping against hope.

In the center of the exhibit, stood the last beam that was taken from the rubble.  On it, were painted  the names of  first responder units and their unit number; some units posted pictures of their fellow responders, heroes who lost their lives.

A prayer scrawled on a piece of paper and taped on the beam was a prayer Father Michael Judge, Fire Department New York City, used to pray. He was fatally injured while giving last rites to a fallen firefighter.

Lord, take me where you want me to go;
Let me meet who you want me to meet;
Tell me what you want me to say, and
Keep me out of Your way.

In the center was the most poignant section of the Memorial and as the public walked through, they were met with recorded voices of  many victims.  The serpentine wave of visitors, were silent; each mourning this fateful day.  A mass grouping of humanity, hushed as they re-lived this tragic event.   The eerie ambiance was as if all were passing the coffin of America, each coming to pay their respects.

Two alcoves held especially emotional memorabilia :  the heroics of Flight 93, and the desperate action taken by people who leaped from the towers to their death.

The actual recording from Flight 93, included calls made to family, "Sean, are you there, pick up please." No answer.  Again another call, "Sean, honey if you're home, please pick up.  We have been hijacked, but, I think everything will be all right.  I love you."  The last call, "Sean, I love you, please tell our children how much I love them, hug them for me".  Click.

The call from the cockpit was also heard. The Muslim terrorists, did not realize that the connection to Cleveland (Air Traffic Control Tower) was open.  They thought they were addressing the passengers on the plane and claimed to be "the Captain".  "This is your Captain, please stay seated, there is a bomb aboard."  Cleveland heard the word bomb, and immediately began to scramble, but, it was, too late.  Passengers on the plane attacked the terrorists, and the plane went down.  "Let's roll" and they did,  courageous men and women averted an attack that was later thought to be on the White House.

The second alcove held very clear and magnified videos of men and women leaping to their death.  One could only watch and ache for them, feeling the desperation they must have felt, the hopelessness and panic that would propel them to do the unthinkable.   Adjacent to the display, on a dimly lit wall were eye witness statements:

"You felt compelled to watch out of respect to them.  They were ending their life without a choice, and to turn away from them would be disrespectful".  Louis Griffith Jones, Lower Manhattan Resident.

"While we were looking up, a man jumped from the building, white shirt, black pants, and over and over tumbling to the ground.  At that instant, the towering glass and metal mass of billowing smoke became human."     Victor Colantonio, Eyewitness

September 11th  2001,  was but one day, but it was a day when all in America and the world stopped in disbelief.  Under clear sky's,  there appeared the face of evil, and left its mark indelibly forever in the heart of Americans.  It was a highly visible attack on America by Islamic jihadist.  It has continued: Boston Marathon, San Bernardino, Paris, and now Brussels.  These Islamic Terrorists have but one objective: to fulfill their caliphate - to take over the world - to make the world a world of Muslims. There are reports that Paris and Brussels were the "testing" cities in preparation for a larger attack in the United States.

We, in the Western world, fail to recognize the barbaric reality of ISIS, Al-Queda, Hezbollah; we fail to acknowledge they are of a culture where killing is paramount, and rewarded.  Where children are taught to kill and praised for their commitment to do so.  Our government fails to call the enemy, the enemy,  instead it welcomes them; it does not vet them; it makes excuses for them, and accommodates them.  The government, at all levels, error on the side of acceptance, rather than on the side of protection.

The enemy has not diminished: it has grown, and the enemy has become deeply entrenched.  In fifteen years they have not been defeated, they remain a viable threat to America.  America has "not yet made it right - it is without closure."

Understanding The
Value of Obamacare
                                      Hayden Lening

Here are the 10,535 pages of Obama Care condensed to four simple sentences by a Notre Dame University Engineer:

As humorous as it may sound, every last word is absolutely TRUE!

1. In order to insure the uninsured, we first have to un-insure the insured .

2. Next, we require the newly un-insured to be re-insured.

3. To re-insure the newly un-insured, they are required to pay extra charges to be re-insured .

4.  The extra charges are required so that the original insured, who became un-insured, and then became re-insured, can pay enough extra so that the original un-insured can be insured, so it will be "free-of-charge" to them.

Simplly put, this, ladies and gentlemen, is called "redistribution of wealth" or, by its more common name: Socialism, or Progressive", the politically correct names for COMMUNISM.

Audit's Findings of Caltrans "Big Lie"
Means CA Must Reform Road Spending
Before Considering Higher Taxes

March 20, 2016 By  Stephen Frank
Like any other government agency, CalTrans is bad at its job but good at wasting money. LAUSD still can not figure out how they spent one billion dollars on computer tablets for students that did not work and were more expensive than if you bought one at Best Buy. San Fran spent tens of thousands of dollars on an open urinal next to a park-so all can see you take a whiz. CalTrans is also good at wasting money.

"Caltrans officials lied to legislators for 7 years. Caltrans spent $250,000 on a study of how to improve field maintenance operations for greater efficiency.  Caltrans ignored the study for 7 years, but at the same time told legislators they were implementing the report's recommendations:  "Specifically, the maintenance division never implemented a budget model (model) that it paid $250,000 to develop in 2009. Use of that model would have allowed the maintenance division to identify the resources needed to maintain highways with similar conditions at a similar level of maintenance performance (known as a service score)... although the maintenance division never implemented its model, the division has been reporting to the Legislature that it is using this sophisticated model to allocate field maintenance funding."

Did I mention, like other government agencies CalTrans lied about the money spent and its usefulness. Another reason to vote NO on all bonds and tax increases-government lies, cheats and steals-from us.

Senator John Moorlach, 3/18/16 ---

"We don't need to raise gas taxes to fix our roads.  We need to stop letting Caltrans waste the money it already has and then lie about how that money is being used."
- Senator Moorlach
---
(Sacramento, CA) - The State Auditor's latest report on Caltrans is the clearest signal yet that road funds are not being spent efficiently, nor in the highest-priority areas.
"This audit reinforces the fact that our bad roads are not a result of a lack of funding.  They're a result of a lack of competence at Caltrans," said State Senator John Moorlach (R-Costa Mesa).  "We don't need to raise gas taxes to fix our roads.  We need to stop letting Caltrans waste the road money it already has and then lie about how that money is being used."

The report released by the State Auditor is just the latest in a string of audits that show Caltrans is one of the worst run, and least truthful, agencies in the nation.  Here are just a few of the findings:
  • Caltrans officials lied to legislators for 7 years. Use of that model would have allowed the maintenance division to identify the resources needed to maintain highways with similar conditions at a similar level of maintenance performance (known as a service score)... although the maintenance division never implemented its model, the division has been reporting to the Legislature that it is using this sophisticated model to allocate field maintenance funding ...as a result, the Legislature and other decision makers may have believed that headquarters was using a more robust approach to allocate funding to the districts than it actually was, causing those decision makers to be less likely to question the allocations."

  • "Caltrans' weak controls over field maintenance do not adequately ensure that work order costs are reasonable and allowable and that the resources used were necessary and appropriate.

  • "No supporting documentation is maintained for work order costs, such as labor, equipment, and materials used to complete field maintenance work."
Yesterday, Caltrans officials said they would implement this latest audit's recommendations.  "Yeah, right," responded Senator Moorlach.

Other key indicators that Caltrans is a broken agency:
"The metrics tell the story.  We pay some of the nation's highest costs for our roads, and we have some of the worst roads to show for it.  Caltrans is a broken agency," concluded Senator Moorlach.

Never played Bunco...
Simple game, you can learn in 1 minute!  See Below!

Dear Friends,

In 2016 the Mt. View Republican Club will again have a Republican Headquarters.

In 2012, we had a great Headquarters, and we were able to help many candidates in their quest for political office.  We had volunteers who came in every day for 7 months, and we managed to pay the rent, buy signs, pay for utilities, etc.  We made some money from the  headquarters, and overall it was very very rewarding.

But, we did learn something:  the key to a successful Presidential election headquarters is to have funds upfront.  Relying on raising the necessary funds each month is both stressful and risky.

A Bunco Night Fundraiser has been a profitable event for other clubs, and could be so for ours as well.

The key to that success is your participation.

Please RSVP to Linnie Drolet at (909) 948-7577 and let her know you are coming!!

We are also keeping costs down by not having the event catered.  So, we could use some "donations of desserts and appetizers".  If you respond to Linnie before March 29, and let her know you will bring something, you will be put into a special drawing for a very nice prize!!

If you can donate a dessert or appetizer call Linnie at
(909) 948-7577.

For those who can't come, but want to donate funds, please also call Linnie.

Also, if you would like to donate a prize for the raffle, please do so!   Call Linnie and let her know!

As you can tell, we are doing all we can to hold down the cost of the fundraiser so that money collected will go to the headquarters and not fundraising overhead!!!

Please invite your friends and family.  It is going to be a light hearted evening of fun!

Best regards,

Carolyn Gonzales

How To Play Instructions Are At The Bottom Of This Notice

HOW TO PLAY BUNCO
Bunco, if you have never played it, is very easy.

The key to the game, is to have fun! and the "skill" of the game is to hold five dice in your hand, and when it is your turn, you roll them, and then the points on the dice are counted, and you write down the number on your tally sheet. That is it!!

After each round, people change tables according to a defined and written pattern; at the end of the night, you add up your points... and viola!!  A winner is determined!   It is a simple and exciting way to interact, and you don't have to worry about "what do I do next" because at each table of 4 there is someone who will answer any question.

You just gotta come out -
you will be glad you did -
we guarantee it!!!
