Cheshvan 5776/October 2015
Message from the Executive Director:

With the joy and meaning of the holiday season behind us, we would like to once again welcome you back to school!  For many schools, this marks the unofficial reboot of the school year when regular rhythms and routines return and the sanctity of the workaday is finally restored.

In addition to the work of the field, which continues to bring me to New York for meetings with my colleagues at our sister intermediaries - an official collective update to be communicated soon - my commitment to be on the ground in our schools with a goal of visiting each and every one in short order remains strong.

September brought me to the Academies at Gerrard Berman Day School.  October brings me to the Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Monmouth County.  November will bring me to Ezra Academy and the Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford.   We are learning so much from our visits and could not be more proud of the work you are doing to inspire our children.

Please know that your Schechter team stands ready to answer any question or help tackle any issue - from placement to program, from community-building to curriculum-creating, and everything in between. We try each month to touch more schools and deepen our relationships.  It continues to be a pleasure to see you, to hear from you, to meet you and to have you as part of our family.

Kol tuv, Jon

Global Day of Jewish Learning
The Global Day of Jewish Learning  is a once-a-year opportunity for your community to join 500+ communities in 42 countries in a day of learning and engaging in Jewish texts. On  Sunday, November 15th  communities will study the theme Love: Devotion, Desire and Deception. Registered communities are provided with resource materials free of charge. Programming on the day can take a variety of forms, tailored to a community's interests.

The Global Day is an initiative to unite Jews around the world through the study of our shared texts. The project is under the aegis of Rabbi Adin Even-Israel Steinsaltz, furthering his mission-- "Let my people know" and is dedicated to the life and legacy of Ralph I. Goldman z"l.
