Dear Bpeacers, riders, volunteers and sponsors--
Tour de Berkshires awards to all our fantastic Pedalers for Peace, and to everyone who contributed to making our 6th annual ride another incredible success!
More than simply a fundraiser, Pedal for Peace gathers together some very special -- and athletic -- folks. Bpeace members make up just a small percentage of participants, but they certainly know how to tap their networks!
WE ARE FAMILY
Co-chair and Bpeace Board Director Mary Ciampa brought the entire Barrios family to ride their tandems, and co-chair Jessica Grandchamp brought her bike riding mom, Mary Slattery, who turned out to also be our chief mechanic and nurse. CEO Elizabeth Crowell recruited her uncle, Tif Crowell, to ride and her aunt, Pat Sabalis, to volunteer. Bpeace staffers Marla Gitterman and Alexandra Salas brought their whole families, with Marla's husband, Dan Sherman, again participating and Alexandra's brother, Marcelo Salas, tackling the hills for the first time. Bpeace member Monica Sanz brought her now-wife, Naomi Moland, for another year of Pedaling, and they even donated some of their wedding gifts to the effort. Team member Paula Wilbert of WAGs was again joined by her husband, Tony Espinoza. Bpeacer Melissa Miller brought an entire entourage of family members to cheer her on, so they were on hand to watch her bring home the top fundraiser prize -- a Vitamix donated by the Vitamin Shoppe Inc.

MORE THAN JUST A RIDE
Pedal for Peace is the vision of Bpeace Board Director Mary Ciampa, but not even Mary could have foreseen the bonding that occurs among the participants. Thanks to her six years at the helm, the event has grown into much more than a bike ride. As Mary steps aside as co-chair (but remains involved in every other way), we thank her for her leadership and look forward to her seeing her lead the Power Pedalers in the 60-mile ride in 2016.
