News & Grant Opportunities
 
The State is participating in COIIN (Collaborative Improvement and Innovation Network) .  It is an initiative to reduce infant mortality and improve birth outcomes.  States come together in 'cyberteams' and share improvement methods along with policy and program innovation.  Nevada is participating in two learning networks:
Preconception/Inter-conception Health and Social Determinants of Health.

 National Governor's Association has several to work groups to improve birth outcomes.  The goal of work group #3 is to reduce negative birth outcomes in Nevada resulting from maternal substance abuse through education, prevention, and intervention efforts.

  Northern Nevada Training of Trainers Workshop - designed to educate adults who work with teens and teen peer leaders/educators about healthy dating relationships and the prevention of relationship abuse.  The goal of this workshop is to prepare participants to present this information based on educational materials provided that are appropriate for teen audiences ranging in age 14-17 and young adults 18-24.

Positively Kids announces new High Risk Newborn Clinic - The Positively Kids Neopediatric high risk newborn clinic will provide specialized care to medically fragile infants and premature babies born earlier than 37 weeks.  The clinic will offer a special high risk infant follow-up program that focuses on the following; assessment of growth, assessment of neurological status and assessment of developmental status.  Positively Kids will facilitate safe and early discharge from the NICU, and will offer services and follow-up in the home with a health coach or RN.
