Tizmoret is coming to Jacksonville!

Tizmoret, the Queens College Hillel's Nationally Acclaimed Jewish A Cappella Group will be visiting the Jacksonville Jewish Center on Sunday, January 10, 2016.
 
At 10:00 AM, the group will be running workshops with the students of the Bernard & Alice Selevan Religious School.

At 11:00 AM, Tizmoret will perform a concert at the Center that is free and open  
to the public.

This year we will feature Naomi Less as our Scholar-In-Residence . Weekend highlights include: Incorporation of Less' melodies in our Friday night service and Dvar Music
(Musical teaching) during Shabbat morning services. Our main event, the Torah Fund Concert, where we will present our
Horty T. Gendzier Woman of Achievement award winner, Lara Werwa with a special presentation to Edie Jordan for her years of service at the Center, will take place on Saturday evening,
January 23, 2016 at 8:00 PM.

This Shabbat we celebrate Ariella Tesler, daughter of Leonid & Victoria Tesler becoming a Bat Mitzvah!  
Ariella Tesler is a 7 th Grader at the Martin J. Gottlieb Day School, where her favorite subject in school is Math. For her Bat Mitzvah project, Ariella, teamed up with her friend Laura, who will become a Bat Mitzvah in late January, to raise money for the Dreams Come True Foundation. The pair chose Dreams Come True Foundation because they wanted to help kids. Ariella loves to read, hangout with her family and friends and play volleyball. Ariella is also a Karate Black Belt and an active member of Setzer Youth Education's Kadima youth group, loves children and enjoys being a Leader In Training at Camp Ki Tov.

Children's Shabbat Programming:
 
Gan Shabbat; a family friendly service for preschool-aged children and their parents is held in the Levin Indoor Playroom in the DuBow Preschool at 11:00 AM

Camp Shabbat; kids will get to lead their own abbreviated Shabbat service. Following their service they will be up on their feet running around as they learn about that week's Torah portion, an upcoming holiday, or another Judaic topic in a fun and interactive manner.

Complimentary Shabbat morning babysitting is available for children ages 1 - 5 in the DuBow Preschool from  9:15 AM - 12:15 PM. 
Our Condolences: 
We are saddened by the passing of Bob E. Wolfson on December 30, brother of our member Bud (Lisa) Wolfson. We extend our condolences to his wife Vicki, his two daughters, Amy Wolfson and Mandi (Ross) Firoved; his other brothers Gary, David and Richard; grandchildren Ceci, Jayden, Levi and William; many nieces and nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

We are saddened by the passing of our member Jack Price, husband of Dr. Miriam Finegold-Price, and brother of our members Samuel (Faye) Price, Florence (Jerry) Schemer, and Eunice (Barry) Zisser. We extend our condolences to them and to Jack's children, Ned (Sue) Price, Susan Price, and Michael Price; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

May the Holy One comfort the members of the Wolfson and Price families among all the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
