WHY WE WALK
  • 1 IN 5 Americans experience a mental illness
  • Stigma and discrimination prevent people from seeking help and treatment
  • With treatment and support many people recover and live full lives
  • We walk to build awareness and raise funds to offer education and support at no cost to those in need
 Affiliate Revenue Sharing Agreement  (abbreviated)

1. Eligibility: Any NAMI Affiliate that agrees to and signs this document is eligible for sharing the revenue derived from the 2016/17 NAMI New Mexico WALK.

2. Shared Responsibilities: All partnering affiliates are invited to actively participate in organizing for and conducting this event. To that end, as a partnering affiliate you commit to:
a. raising dollars in sponsorship revenue and in walker revenue;
b. forming teams of walkers;
c. providing a minimum of 4 volunteers on WALK day for set up and/or clean-up activities;
d. participating in and being present at the WALK Information Meeting, the Team Captain Kickoff Event, Walk Day and Post-Walk Celebration; and,
f. raising 10% more revenue in 2016 and 2017 than you raised in the previous years.

3. Revenue Sharing:   Each participating affiliate will receive 50% of all funds that they raise through their WALK teams and returning sponsorships. Any NEW sponsorship an affiliate acquires in the current walk year will provide a 60% share to the affiliate in the current walk year.

How will the funds raised be used?
NAMI affiliates provide education and support programs FREE OF CHARGE to local communities and advocate at the federal, state and city level for nondiscriminatory policies that assist the mentally ill.

New Mexico Leads Nation In Per Capita Mental Illness
per the Behavioral Health 2012 report produced by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Nationally, the report estimates that 17.8 percent of individuals suffer from mental illness. Compared to other states, New Mexico showed the highest rate of mental illness: 23.6 percent.

The funds raised by this walk will be used to expand NAMI signature programs and grow outreach to local communities.
