Message from the Executive Director

2016 is gearing up to be a busy year for the PCD!

Our recreation initiative is underway as Professor George Frantz and his team of Cornell students work to design a trail concept plan for updates to the Chenango Canal Towpath. This winter, the class will host a public meeting to gather input about recreation in the Hamilton area. Be sure to come out and let us know what we can do to enhance our recreational amenities!

Another big project in the PCD offices right now is the feasibility study for the Hamilton Airpark.  The Airpark is 50 acres of highly developable land adjacent to the Hamilton Municipal Airport. In December, $50,000 was awarded through the New York State Consolidated Funding Application to undertake the study, so the Village of Hamilton, the Airport/Airpark Commission, and the PCD have been working together to move the project forward.

We look forward to sharing more about these projects as they progress, so stay tuned!

not glitter,

Not all those who
wander are lost;

The old that is strong
does not wither,

Deep roots are not reached
by the frost."

Mini-Grant Recipient 3: Old Home Distillers

Founded by longtime  Lebanon residents J erry and Marlene Carvell, Old Home Distillers (OHD) brings three generations of family together in their newest venture. A  New York Farm Distillery, OHD  produces small batch hand-crafted distilled spirits featuring locally-grown ingredients.

OHD's commitment to high quality products ensures a legacy for their family, and with their business they aim to benefit local farmers, Madison County and New York State.  All  whiskeys, brandies and liquors will all be made from locally sourced  grains and fruits.

Joined by their two sons, daughters-in-law and  three grandsons, Jerry  Marlene have invested themselves  in the restoration of the historic Campbell Road farm property and the conversion of its 150-year-old s ta ble into a working craft distillery.

OHD desired exterior artwork on its newly renovated production facility and applied for a mini-grant through the PCD in support of a mural-style branding on the southern wall of the production facility. OHD developed the desired artwork internally and approached seve ral local  artists for quotes.  The new signage was installed by  TM Paint of New Plymouth, NY.  In addition to the side of the stillhouse, the logo is now av ailable on t-shirts, ball caps and logo stickers through their website.
