Managing your pet's allergies
Pets suffer from allergies too. Therapies like antihistamines, corticosteriods and immunotherapy provide temporary relief, but proper nutrition as well as supplements and holistic therapies should be part of a treatment plan.

Tips & Tricks
Removing a Tick

Here are tips for checking your dog for ticks:

  • Perform a daily check
  • Long hair makes it difficult to easily spot a tick so run your hands all along the body, especially around the muzzle, ears, armpits and between paw pads.
  • Feel for bumps, swollen areas or things that require closer inspection

If you find a tick:

  • Use clean tweezers (or a tick removal tool)
  • Gently pinch the tick as close to the dog's skin as possible
  • Pull straight out from the skin with steady and firm movement until the tick is removed; do not yank or twist when pulling!
  • Place the tick in a container of rubbing alcohol, seal and date.
  • Call your veterinarian to decide if your dog should see a doctor or be monitored for symptoms of illness for period of time.
  • Swelling and/or a rash may occur.

Ask your veterinarian about the best preventive treatment for your dog or cat and apply as directed.
