County Commissioner Robin Quillen has been appointed to fill the county commissioner seat.

The Partnership Board of Directors has approved the following officers and executive committee members: Chris Marsh, chairman; Bob Leonard, chair-elect; Bob Cantler, secretary/treasurer; Bill Carroll, past chair; and Mayor David Crum, Mayor W. T. Daniels, Scott Crawford, Cal Doty, John Tweed and the incoming Partnership president.

Congratulations to Morristown West High School, winner of the 2015 Landair Ladies' Classic! Congratulations also to Ron Metcalfe, chairman of the Classic, and his committee on another very competitive tournament that provided numerous "thrillers" that had the fans on the edge of their seats. Ron volunteers numerous hours to oversee the many aspects of this tournament which is evident in the continued success of the Classic. Thank you, Ron!

The Teacher Supply Depot will be open Tuesday, January 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. in Medical Office Building No. 2 at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. Greeneville and Greene County public school teachers are invited to shop the depot for free school supplies on a first-come, first-served basis. All teachers must bring proper school identification to enter the depot. Due to limited space and in an effort to serve as many teachers as possible, it is requested that teachers visit the depot unaccompanied. ConventionSouth Magazine's readers and Facebook fans have ranked Greeneville the number two destination out of the top 12 of "The South's Cool Spots For Summer Meetings." Magazine editors compiled a ballot of 60 meeting destinations that are a great fit for summer meetings as they provide an escape from extreme summer heat experienced in many parts of the country. SportsEvents Media Group has named Greene County Partnership's Tourism Department one of its 2016 Readers' Choice Award winners. The nominations were accepted throughout the year from sports event professionals to identify sporting destinations that display exemplary creativity and professionalism toward visiting groups. Readers were then able to cast their votes through an online voting system. The Tourism Department also received this award in 2012.

Great news! The Relay for Life group that has been offering The Greene-Opoly game (a version of the age-old Monopoly game with local sites featured on the board) has reduced the price of the game. Previously sold for $30, the games are now available at the Partnership at a cost of $15. All proceeds from the sales go to Relay for Life.
