MORAINE PARK NAMED FIRST FAIR TRADE TECHNICAL COLLEGE IN U.S.  
Moraine Park Technical College has become the first technical college in the U.S. to achieve Fair Trade status. The designation was granted by Fair Trade Colleges & Universities USA this past summer.

Fair Trade is a global trade model that promotes the purchase and sale of goods produced ethically and fairly. It ensures fair wages, safe working conditions, and environmental sustainability while prohibiting forced labor. Fair Trade products, such as coffee, tea, chocolate and greeting cards, are available at all three Moraine Park cafeterias and bookstores.

MORAINE PARK RANKS IN TOP 10 AMONG BEST TECHNICAL COLLEGES FOR VETS


Moraine Park ranked 9th in Military Times's Best for Vets: Career & Technical Colleges 2016. The list, comprised of 20 schools, recognizes career and technical colleges for their commitment to educating and providing opportunities to America's veterans.
SECOND ANNUAL GREAT PINK PUMPKIN RAISES $10,000 
Over 600 participants and volunteers came together to make the second annual Great Pink Pumpkin 5K Run/Walk a success this October. The event was sponsored by Moraine Park Technical College and Kiwanis of Fabulous Fond du Lac.  
"The Great Pink Pumpkin Run exemplifies the true competencies of team building and problem solving through serving the community for an event that raised over $10,000 for Breast Cancer Recovery and doubled participation in the second year," said Jeff Stueber, business management instructor at Moraine Park.

HUNDREDS ATTEND CONFERENCE TO LEARN ABOUT NEXT "BIG THING" IN MANUFACTURING

Additive manufacturing. It's what some manufacturers are saying could be the next "big thing" in manufacturing, and nearly 300 people turned out for a recent two-day conference to hear from leaders in the field and learn more about it.
Moraine Park Technical College hosted the conference at its West Bend Campus, Nov. 12 and 13, and if the strong attendee turnout was any indicator, additive manufacturing is a process manufacturers will be seeing more of in the future.
KRUEGER EARNS 2015 ACCT NATIONAL RECOGNITION

Val Krueger, executive assistant to both the Moraine Park Technical College District Board and College president, was recently presented with the 2015 Professional Board Staff Member National Award.
Earlier this year, Krueger was chosen as the sole recipient of the 2015 Central Region Professional Board Staff Member Award.
   
INTERACTIVE EXHIBIT FOCUSES ON INCLUSION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Nearly 200 people visited Allies for Inclusion: The Ability Exhibit, a traveling exhibit designed to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities through an interactive, multimedia approach to demonstrate respect, comfort and awareness. It offered suggestions for becoming disability allies and educators. The Disability Resources team of Moraine Park Technical College sponsored the three-day exhibit in October.

Bryce Wentlandt, District Student Government president

Starting at a young age, Bryce Wentlandt, of Jackson, has been active in the community that he loves. For 11 years, he's been a member of Washington County 4-H Club's Jackson chapter and is now their co-general leader and a member of the Washington County 4-H Leaders Association Board. Wentlandt's interest in community involvement and leadership carried into his college career when he began taking classes at Moraine Park.

Born and raised in Fond du Lac, Brenda Schaefer exudes passion for teaching, learning and serving others, both in her work as a service-learning coordinator and social science instructor at Moraine Park as well as in her personal life.
