GAUGING AGING: MAPPING THE GAPS BETWEEN EXPERT AND PUBLIC UNDERSTANDINGS OF AGING IN AMERICA

The report identifies the patterns of thinking that Americans use in talking about growing older and compares these with the knowledge of experts in the ageing field. Outlined in the report are communications challenges to efforts to elevate public support for policies and programs that promote the well-being of older adults and recommendations for addressing these challenges. The report also lays the groundwork for a larger effort to develop a new, evidence-based narrative around the process of aging and the needs and contributions of older adults.
