AIAOC Lunch Program-3D Printing in Architecture

Wednesday, April 16th- Attendees will learn what 3D printing is (and is not, which is just as valuable) and how to leverage 3D printing in their design development and client presentations. Examples of actual 3 D printing samples for architectural applications will be shown and the process to produce the model from CAD files will be described. AIAOC COTE Lecture ~ Introducing the ARTIC Project
|
Thursday, April 17th- ARTIC will serve as a hub for Orange County and the region, a landmark where freeways, major arterials, bus routes and Orange County's backbone rail system converge. The network of transit choices will continue to grow in the coming years as the number of Metrolink and Amtrak trains serving Anaheim and local and express bus routes increase. On opening day, ARTIC services will include: Metrolink, Amtrak, OCTA bus, Anaheim Resort Transportation, shuttles, taxis, and tour and charter buses. ARTIC will also accommodate future plans for the Anaheim Rapid Connection (ARC) and high-speed trains. |

Tuesday, April 29th- Learning Objectives: Examine window performance ratings and understand how they can impact and improve the build environment and performance of a building.Discuss high performance window technologies that increase energy efficiency and sustainability.
-Learn about the NFRC program and discuss how it helps windows meet building energy code requirements.
-Describe what criteria must be met in order for windows to contribute to various standards, codes and voluntary practices for performance and energy efficiency.
-Also review upcoming changes to Title 24 window thermal requirements.

AIA National Committee Opportunity -
Healthcare Design

The Design for Aging Knowledge Community partners with an outside group (Vendome in partnership with Center for Health Design) on a yearly conference, Environments for the Aging. This conference brings together developers, owners, design professionals, product manufacturers, academia, aging specialists, and government officials to explore new ideas for creating places that support people as they age.
It will take place May 3-6, 2014, at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim.
The DFA KC would love to have some local representatives that could help out with content planning from the AIA side. They are looking for anyone with Universal Design, Aging in Place, Facility Design, or CCRC Design experience. In addition, this conference hosts tours of local (45min radius) facilities, and it would be great to get some recommendations of places.
