Wednesday, July 23rd- AIAOC Lunch Program-As we move increasingly towards market viable net-zero buildings with initiatives like the 2030 Challenge, we must reevaluate the role that typical building components play in a facility's energy efficiency. When integrated into new building designs, air movement allows a reduction of air conditioning capacity and ductwork. Project teams working on net-zero buildings have proven the effectiveness of incorporating air movement in building plans as part of an integrated design strategy.

Thursday, August 28th- Attendees will tour the recent completed, dog park, and civic center in Newport Beach. During this approximately one mile walking tour, attendees will learn about ADA applications as they impact the external environment including the implication of ramps, bridges, elevators, seating, parking, and general movement through a sloped park.

Some of you may remember when we transitioned candidates from ARE 3.1 to  ARE 4.0. It is safe to say that the Council learned several valuable lessons from that transition that we have applied to the ARE 5.0 transition plan.

The Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN), a Knowledge Community of The American Institute of Architects, will hold its 7th annual symposium on September 18-20 at the Mills House Wyndham Hotel and Hibernian Hall on Meeting Street in historic Charleston, South Carolina. Entitled 'The Architecture of Influence,' the three-day symposium, open to all AIA and non-AIA members, will bring together custom residential architects from across the country to learn, share, and discuss relevant topics in the field of residential architecture.
