Worship with us this Sunday!

It's the second Sunday of Advent - PEACE! How timely. Please join us for Traditional Worship at 9:30am and/or Informal Worship at 11:00am.*
We really need to focus our efforts on peace - in ourselves, our homes, our region, our nation, our world.
Sunday's scriptures are Malachi 3:1-4 and Luke 3:1-6 with a sermon entitled
Peace Places Please . Recognizing the need for peace in our own lives, our relationships and in the world, how do we plant peace, nurture it, protect it, help it to thrive and spread? Turning toward God, not away - can multiply peace.
We will celebrate the sacrament of communion at our open table

*Our  Informal Worship Team is asking 11:00am people to bring a photo/magazine clip of a peaceful place. As you enter the sanctuary, please post your piece on the board at the front. There will be tape there to use. Please feel free to leave your piece or bring it home with you after the service.

It's Give-A-Meal Sunday. P lease bring gifts of non-perishable food items for hungry people in St Louis.

We continue to receive our 2nd Mile Advent financial gifts to support the missions and ministries of

Consecration Sunday  was a few weeks ago  when we dedicated our financial pledges for our mission and ministry in 2016... our hearts are clearly with the work and witness of Parkway. If you have not yet pledged a portion of your treasure to God's work within our family, our community and the world, please consider doing so this weekend. Thank you for partnering with us! [Need a pledge card? Pick one up in the Gathering Space.]

December contributions. As the church's financial year closes, we encourage all members and friends to complete their 2015 contributions. The church is, as usual - like many charitable institutions -- expecting significant contributions in December in order to meet our budget and achieve our mission and other goals. PUCCers have been generous all year, but the end-of-year contributions are still essential. Please check your 2015 pledges or giving plans, and complete them this month, and consider Parkway for any other end-of-year giving. Thanks for your continued support!

COPE Partner Graduating in December
The combined COPE team of Parkway UCC and St. Alphonsus Ligouri has been in partnership with a man recently released from prison. We will be ending our official commitment to him this month; however, some will continue to stay in touch. Project COPE as we knew it is closing its doors and will be absorbed into Concordance Academy in 2016. Our partner is already moving into his own apartment. He could use a small dining room/kitchen table and chairs. If anyone has a set not in use that they are willing to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. He could also use a few kitchen items, such as a muffin pan, cookie sheet, mixing bowls, small casserole dish, and kitchen utensils. Refer questions to Evelyn Buretta:
[email protected] or phone 636-220-1280.

Peace near and far....
No, my prayers will not stop the killing.
No, my prayers will not bring back the innocent.
No, my prayers will not relax the gnarled fist of hatred.
No, my prayers will not open the greedy hearts of those who profit from death.
But, my prayers can gently break the silence of despair.
But, my prayers can channel my rage at the machine.
But, my prayers can embolden me to be the hands and feet of The Divine.
But, my prayers can encourage others of faith to awake, arise and act.
I do not pray for God to send us a miracle.
I pray for God to remind us how to be the miracle.
I am because you are and only together, with a radical belief that a paradigm shift is possible, active hope and faithful resolve to be the change we seek, can we make it stop.
~ Kimberly Knight, Minister of Digital Community - Extravagance UCC

Inspiration
Compassion and non-violence help us to see the enemy's point of view, to hear his questions, to know his assessment of ourselves. For from his view we may indeed see the basic weaknesses of our own condition, and if we are mature, we may learn and grow and profit from the wisdom of the brothers who are called the opposition. ~Martin Luther King Jr
