Fall "Community Edition" Newsletter

Preparations are well underway for the fifth annual Madera Pomegranate Festival, which takes place Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Madera Municipal Airport from 10AM to 4PM. The event is organized by the Madera Tourism Alliance, a committee of the Madera Chamber of Commerce.

"On behalf of the Madera Chamber, I would like to invite everyone to come out and join us for this fun-filled event, it's a great outing for the entire family, "Liz Salas, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated. "The Tourism Alliance Committee and Chamber staff is working hard to bring yet another great event to our community this year."

"The momentum is building and exciting things are falling into place for this year's Pomegranate Festival. The annual event celebrates what Madera does best! Agriculture is Madera's #1 industry and the event takes place during November which is National Pomegranate Month. To encourage everyone to join the fun we offer free admission and parking." Julie Herd, Chairwoman, Madera Chamber of Commerce's Tourism Alliance Committee, says.

New this year are nuts...since nothing pairs better with Pomegranates than Nuts!  There will be pomegranate and nut inspired food, cooking demos from local chefs throughout the day incorporating both elements, and educational briefings on pomegranates.

Other popular attractions include a presentation from the Fresno Chaffee Zoomobile, art classes from the Madera County Arts Council, children's games, crafts, face painting, inflatables and a photo booth from the Madera Parks Department.  Also returning, is a display of various aircraft as well as skydivers from Madera Parachute Center, the Children's stage featuring local dance, karate and other talented youth, a Fossil Dig hosted by the Fossil Discovery Center of Madera County and a classic car show.

This year we will have music by Blues Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Bakersfield Country Music Association; the Richie Blue's Band who plays anything from the Blues to Country and everything in between.

"We'll have vendors selling the fruit itself, plus pomegranate-scented candles, jellies and anything else you could think of involving pomegranate and nuts, and probably some things you didn't know could incorporate the fruit," reported Debi Bray, President/CEO.

The Madera Municipal Airport is located at 4020 Aviation Drive, Madera.
