We're Getting Ready!

Since taking possession of the hospital in August 2015, we've been busy preparing the hospital for opening day.

This has included orientation and hands-on training for more than 2600 staff, physicians and volunteers who will be moving from the legacy Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at 327 Reynolds Street to the new hospital.

Where is the New Hospital Located?

The new hospital is located at 3001 Hospital Gate off Dundas St., west of Third Line, providing easy access corridors for residents living south of the hospital.

Emergency Department Changes

On December 13 at 6 a.m., hospital services and the Emergency Department at the legacy Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) at 327 Reynolds Street will permanently close.

On December 13 at 6 a.m., the emergency department at the new OTMH at 3001 Hospital Gate will open.

What Will Happen to the Current Hospital After it Closes?

Halton Healthcare will work with the Town to keep the facility secure and to decommission it by March 31, 2016, at which time the Town will take possession. Oakville Mayor Rob Burton has stated, "Decisions about its use requires Council approval. The town's current plan, once in possession, is to conduct environmental, heritage and site assessments before substantive demolition takes place."
