Garbage Fees
Our office has received some questions about the planned new fees for garbage pick-up.
There is still no announced start date for when the city will start collecting the new garbage fee.
The Dept of Finance says it will begin the first half of the year and we will share details are soon as they are available. Please stay tuned to this newsletter and our website. We will provide the most up to date information as we receive it.

Condo Refuse Rebates
The application deadline for the condo refuse rebate program is January 31, 2016, and no rebates will be granted for refuse collection costs incurred after December 31, 2015. Please bring your forms to our office no later than January 8, 2016 (you may

We've
teamed up with State Representative Pamela Reeves-Harris' Office to collect winter coats for Chicago residents in need. You can drop off donations to our Ward Office during regular hours until Thursday, December 17th.

ear Neighbors,
I am writing to provide an update regarding the proposed redevelopment of 601 W. Diversey Parkway, currently the "Inn at Lincoln Park" hotel. There have been multiple public meetings held regarding this parcel, with the most recent one taking place on September 29th.
The present Planned Development proposal calls for a 9-story hotel, containing nearly 10,000 square feet of new, ground level retail space, 143 hotel keys and 75 parking stalls. This is a significant reduction from a previously-approved 2004 Planned Development allowing a 15-story hotel and residential structure at this site.
During the course of the development negotiations, I sought feedback from the adjacent neighbors on Lehmann Court regarding the hotel's traffic management plan, as the parking entrance and exit is required to be located on Lehmann Court per the City code. T
o keep the residential street quality of Lehmann Court intact
, I requested the developer construct an "extended parkway" at the exit of the building to direct departing hotel traffic onto northbound Lehmann Court, and consequently, to mitigate hotel guests from exiting southbound on Lehmann.
This extended parkway, which will be built, landscaped and maintained by the developer, will protrude several feet into the street, and will be elevated and curved at the base of the parking ramp to direct traffic north on Lehmann Court. Further, signs prohibiting right turns onto southbound Lehmann Court will be installed on either side of the parking garage exit to further deter vehicles from proceeding south on Lehmann Court.
The final design incorporates changes agreed to by the developer after months of negotiations with our office and the community, including additional parking accessible to the community for monthly parking, landscaping the hard surfaces on the south wall of the building, a revised loading area, and updated facade and retail spaces.
The proposal will now proceed to a public hearing before the Chicago Plan Commission on Thursday, December 17th (time of presentation to be announced), which is the first step of the formal approval process. The hearing will take place at City Hall's Council Chambers, located at 121 N. LaSalle Street, Room 200, and all are welcome to attend this meeting and provide public comment.

Community Alert: Car Thefts
warning Ward residents of auto thefts in November. In all of the reported incidents, victims left their vehicles running and unattended leading up to the thefts.
The thefts occurred at all times of the day on the following blocks and dates:
* The 800 block of North Larrabee Street on Nov. 4
* The 200 block of West Scott Street on Nov. 4
* The 1600 block of North Wells Street on Nov. 18
* The 1900 block of North Sheffield Avenue on Nov. 21
* The 400 block of West Division Street on Nov. 23
* The 1600 block of North Vine Street on Dec. 4
Police do not have a description of a suspect or suspects. For your safety, please do not leave your vehicle running and unattended, immediately call the police if you are a victim of a crime, and make available any video surveillance for investigating detectives.
