During the Worship and Celebration Service this past Sunday, Reverend Sue Landon, who was the emcee, disclosed that she loves the word "awesome." And that people often tell her she uses it too often. And that she doesn't care because she thinks the word "awesome" is, well, AWESOME! Well, guess what? So do I! In fact, I often find "awesome" is the only word that so perfectly describes how I feel about something truly wonderful.

So, "awesome" is the word I am using to describe our Open House Luncheon that took place in the Fellowship Hall following the service to officially launch the 2016 Pledge Campaign. We feasted on a delicious meal prepared and served by our founder Reverend James De Biasio and his team of Kitchen Angels that included Rev. Fran Wright, Maribel Torres-Pinero, Susan Lusi, Lilya De Boer-Wilcox, Patrick Chapman, Ashley Sullivan and Jan Keifer. Longtime members Tom Landon and Linda Voss, and newer members Lilya De Boer-Wilcox and Rod Hill, all of shared their reflections on what ISD has meant to them. The warmth and cheer of everyone who attended was palpable, and I had yet another opportunity to be proud and honored to serve as pastor of the AWESOME group of people that make up our beloved Spiritual Community. I feel big things happening for ISD and our ISD family in 2016. To see pictures from the event, check out the album on our Facebook page here.

But before we get to 2016 we have lots yet to enjoy in 2015. This week continues with class two of Rev. Ken Foor's  "Kundalini Yoga for Beginners and Beyond," The class begins 7:30 p.m. and will run each Tuesday through November 24. Last week we had quite a showing! If you haven't done yoga in awhile or never done it, this is the class for you! Kundalini Yoga can be done in a chair and/or on the floor so it is perfect for all levels. Yet another fabulous chance to get spiritually "tuned up and toned" for the coming winter months.

Saturday evening, November 14, we will have our bi-monthly Psychic Fair. Come and receive a 15-minute reading of insight and inspiration from our talented pool of D.C.'s best mediums! Bring your friends and make it "An Intuitive Evening!"

Sunday, November 15, following the Service at 1 p.m., we host the return of Tammy LaDrew, who will present her popular and amazing "Adventures in Spoon Bending" workshop, where you, too, can discover your own powers of focus and intention!

By now, ISD members have received their 2016 Pledge Letters. During our special Dedication Sunday Service on November 22, we will affirm our intentions for ISD's coming year and pledge our energy and financial resources as an investment in the LIfeforce of our Spiritual Home. And then we will celebrate with another wonderful luncheon, this time at Busara's Restaurant in Tyson's Corner. Reservations are necessary, so please reply at [email protected] to make yours today and join in our celebration!

Yes, this Autumn is truly AWESOME at ISD. Make sure to check our Facebook page here, and our Instagram account here - then check back again and again for updates!

A Telekinesis Demonstration Of Spoon Bending & Discussion On The Energetic Forces To Create Change Elsewhere

We all have natural gifts of energetic healing, and intuition (psychic abilities) which are uniquely self-discovered. In this workshop, Tammy shares her adventure about tapping into her own telekinetic energy through "Spoon Bending." Through lecture, discussion, and hands-on demonstration, you will learn about:
  • Tammy's experience, and how it helped her make a profound connection to the universe and spirit
  • How to tap into your own telekinetic energy
  • How to use this energy to create change in your life.
Attendees should feel free to bring their own spoon & forks.
