Practice moving into your heart.  In front of your heart hold a loved one, a pet, go to nature, do an activity you love.  Invite your heart to open as you feel yourself melt into the feeling of love.  Bring this intention and attention into your life - into your present moment now. Bring this heart intelligence into your life, into your present moment now and experience what's good in the moment.  There is a wealth of aliveness in your heart. Take a deep breath and consider how you want to live your life.
Pearls of Wisdom from 'The Mastery of Health & Happiness' CD Series

I had a wonderful session with someone, I can't remember who it was, but we were talking about people are like in the winter when our cars are all iced up and underneath that is a beautiful car. But all you see is ice, you know, when you have to kind of hack at it in order to get to the car. We're all crusted up. We've got layers and layers and layers of self-protection around us. Will I be safe? Will people like me? Will I be okay? Will I be successful? So we have all of these layers of protection around us. Now when you go into the space of the heart, the heart is when for me I feel the most powerful. When I'm in my heart space I'm quite fearless. I'm powerful; I hold complete respect for everyone. And I can't believe the creativity that comes in. So for me to be in my heart when I'm parenting, when I'm with my partner, when I'm with friends, I'm in a very solid place. I love that place because everything flows.

Love to give.  Love to receive.

If I take all the commercialization out of Valentine's Day, except, of course, for the chocolates (I love chocolates), then I shift my focus to the meaning this celebration has for me.  It can create a "flavour" for the month.

The flavour for this month is being in our hearts.

For me, that holds the meaning of connection; a connection to myself and others.

My wish for all of us is that we can be in our hearts.  Why?  Because there is an intelligence in our hearts that surpasses the mind.  My mind is great for figuring out how to put Ikea furniture together; to put my mind in charge of my life is scary.

Our mind holds a great deal of ego.  It holds our habits of thoughts from old conditioning.  The heart holds compassion, forgiveness, love, joy, peace.

Imagine your life from that kind of intelligence! The quality of our relationship with ourselves and with others would be beautiful. I parent from my heart, partner with others from my heart, work from my heart, live from my heart. I feel creative, peaceful, calm and intelligent.

There are so many ways to drop into our hearts.  This has now become a habit for me.  A habit I like and cultivate.  One of my favourite ways is to imagine my two mischievous dogs in front of my heart.  They are sitting side by side - they look a little like Abbott & Costello - and they are cocking their heads looking very curious.  Oh!  I can feel my heart open.  It has a feeling of warmth. From that place, I can be present with myself and others in a heart-felt way.  Being in our hearts mean that we are present in the moment.

Give special meaning to this month.

What you focus on expands.

Love by Scooter the dog

ScooterMy name is Scooter. I'm a dog. I'm a Havanese, so I'm little (and cute!). I want to tell you a story about Love.

I came from a dysfunctional family. There was this people family of three kids, a wife and a husband. The husband would lose his temper and physically abuse the wife. With help, the wife decided to leave and developed a plan. They had a female Havanese dog (my mom) and the wife decided to drive all the way to Edmonton to mate it with the top Havanese male dog (my dad) in this part of Canada. Her plan was to sell the puppies and make enough money to leave her husband. She almost did it but the abuse became bad. My siblings were sold and I was left behind. I was shut up in a basement for 3 months. I was lonely and I didn't get socialized. Who would want me now?

In comes Love. A great family heard about me and they bought me, socialized me, gave me a big brother, named Oliver, and taught me how life can be good and friendly. I was a frightened little dog, but not any more. I have lots of love and am now a proud Havanese who believes in himself!  I am so grateful. I feel loved.

Thanks heavens for Love - it saved my butt!
