Veterans Day Celebration Tradition Continues!

Thank you to all who came to our Annual Veterans Day Celebration.       62 veterans (with approximately 100 total visitors) were specifically honored at the Junior/Senior High Campus through touching video presentations, rousing student-written speeches (by Allie Statzer and Mikaela McWhinnie), live artwork (by Isabella Collins and Taylor Spalding) music and more! Special guest performances were given by the Elementary Music Group, who joined the  Junior/Senior High Choirs and Band to "wow" the audience with stirring, patriotic song and music throughout the entire program.

The National Honor Society students (led by Alexis Jenkins, Abby Stone, Olivia Nell, Laura Kindell, and Anna Holder and mentored by Mrs. Kim Stone) planned and implemented the entire program.   Stacks of prayer cards were given to each veteran as they arrived.  The students held a special breakfast for the visiting veterans that morning, and had CCS staff members and students praying for veterans, by name, the week prior to the program.

Your efforts did indeed honor them, so well done, students!
Thank you, again, for your service, veterans!

2nd Graders Get Creative!

As part of their science curriculum, Mrs. Cole's and Mrs. Schmidt's 2nd graders have learned about habitats. At the end of this study, they created dioramas of six different habitats as a part of project-based learning.   From the looks on their faces, they are proud of their work!

JH/SH Campus Raps During SLEW!

As part of Junior/Senior High Campus SLEW (Spiritual Life Emphasis Week) kickoff on day one, a surprise chapel concert was given by the Christian rap artist, K-Drama.  It was a rockin' house that afternoon as K-Drama led our students in some super upbeat worship!

Later that evening, K-Drama posted this photo to his Instagram (kdrama513).

3rd and 4th Grade Girls Win Big!

CCS 3rd and 4th grade girls' volleyball team pushed themselves to their limits and became the GCCYS Volleyball Tournament Champions! All of the games were won within two or three sets, with the final game win against the 1 seed Mother Theresa!  (Other tournament game wins were against Sacred Heart, Saint Barts, and Summit Country Day.)

Coach Melissa Bertram says of her team, "I am so very proud of each and every one of these 3rd and 4th grade girls, and feel blessed to have been their coach this season."

Go Cougars!

CCS Cappies Reviews Published!

The Cappies (Critics and Awards Program of Cincinnati) is a program through which high school theatre and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews in local newspapers. Each year, a handful of CCS students train to be Cappies critics, attending at least five shows to critique.

So far this school year, Cappies mentors selected the following reviews for the media:  a review of Little Shop of Horrors  (Highlands High School) by  Mia Yakimow  and a review of  Theophilus  ( North by Mason High School)  by  Abigail Ploetz.   Super job, ladies!

1st Graders Scope out the Aquarium

One of the many educational field trips scheduled this year is the 1st grade trip to the Newport Aquarium. The trip was in connection with their Bible/Science unit on animals in September.

As a follow-up to this trip, they also did some activities relating to penguins afterward.
Super fun learning!

Basketball Program Hosts a Super Saturday!

In early November, the
Senior High Boys' Basketball Teams, as well as the  Athletic Boosters , hosted their 2nd Annual Corn Hole Tourney and 1st Annual Chili Cook Off and Bake Sale fundraisers!  The Varsity Boys' Team scrimmaged in the morning, and games were followed by the chili cookoff and corn hole tournament; so several hours of basketball-supporting food and fun was had by all!

Special thanks to  Becky Grammel , who organized the tourney,
Guynn Green, who organized the cook off, and to  Coaches Woods and MacCarthy, Athletic Director,  Steve Gillens , and  Pastor Brad Rosenberg (TCA) for judging the chili competition.
