PTSO Guest Speaker - Dr. Malcolm Astley

T he PTSO welcomes Wayland resident,  Dr. Malcolm Astley, to speak with WHS parents on Wednesday, Decem ber 9th at 7:00 p.m.  in the WHS library.  In 2011,  Dr. Astley's daughter Lauren, a Wayland High School graduate, was a victim of teen domestic violence, murdered by  her former high school boyfriend.   The circumstances of Lauren's death were featured in a "48 Hours" documentary entitled "Loved to Death",   

Dr. Astley will be speaking about his efforts to raise awareness of teen domestic violence and to promote dynamic educational programs, particularly those fostering the development of healthy teen relationships.   Please note:  Dr. Astley will also be addressing faculty and students in separate presentations.

Please join us for a screening of the award-winning film "Most Likely to Succeed" in the WHS Auditorium on Monday, December 14th from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.

The Wellesley Public Schools in partnership with the Wellesley Education Foundation invite you to attend a screening of the award-winning film Most Likely to Succeed, a documentary which Superintendent Dr. David Lussier describes as "incredibly thought-provoking in its examination of the underlying assumptions that have guided the development of public education in the U.S., as well as its questioning of whether these same assumptions are still relevant today as we prepare our students for a rapidly changing, interconnected world."


Guidance Calendar Update 

The evening presentation "The College Experience for Students with Learning Differences" originally scheduled for September 30th has been rescheduled for December 15th @ 7:00 pm in the WHS Library.

We are excited to welcome back two WHS alums as they share with us their experience and perspective on accessing college supports, resources, and accommodations.  This presentation is appropriate for any family interested in learning more about academic support at the college level.

The Wellesley Cotillion, a formal event open to all high school juniors and seniors who reside in Wellesley or attend WHS will be held Saturday, January 9th 2016, 7:30-11pm at the Dorothy Quincy Suite in the newly restored Back Bay Events Center on Boylston Street in Boston.
