THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING WALLACE STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE!

CONSIDER TAKING A MINI TERM COURSE

Each semester, Wallace State offers two Mini Term courses. These are full courses completed in eight weeks (five weeks during the summer) rather than over a full semester. They are a great way to complete more courses over a semester, saving you time as you work toward your degree or transfer.

Mini Term courses are offered in a number of programs and as traditional classes on campus, hybrid and online. These are especially helpful in requisite courses, such as computer science, English, history, mathematics, or psychology. Several technical and health programs also offer classes during the Mini Terms.

Registration for Mini Term II will begin on Friday, Oct. 2, with classes beginning on Monday, Oct. 5.

Refer to the Fall 2015 Schedule to see what classes are being offered during Mini Term II and talk to your advisor about enrolling. The Advising Center, located in Lion Central on the main floor of the James C. Bailey Center, is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

BLUE RIBBON WINNER

Congratulations to Wallace State Café manager Mary Crosby. Mary's creation of a lion made from marshmallow cereal treats and marshmallow for an entry in the decorated cake-professional category of the Cullman County Fair. Her efforts were rewarded with a blue ribbon for first place.

The Wallace State Café is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the School of Nursing and Center for Science, offering fruits, salad, yogurt, sandwiches, bagels, biscuits, soups, desserts and more. Follow the Wallace State Café on its Facebook page to get updates on daily specials.
NEW MENU AT CULINARY ARTS CAFE
Salute to Oktoberfest this month

The Wallace State Culinary Arts program serves lunch each Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the banquet hall of the Academy of Culinary Arts. A new menu for this month features several dishes with an Oktoberfest theme. All meals are $5 each and are served with tea or water. You may also choose a combination of Soup, Salad or Sandwich (half servings) for $5.

Salad
Seasonal Chef's Salad
Crisp romaine lettuce tossed in poppy seed lemon dressing, garnished with bacon, hard boiled eggs, fresh apple, avocado, pecans, dried cranberries and feta cheese crumbles.

Soup
Wisconsin Cheddar, Beer and Potato Soup
A tangy and hearty rendition of beer and cheese soup, served with apple spice muffin.

Sandwich
Grilled Bratwurst with Sauerkraut Relish
The classic veal and pork sausage grilled to perfection then served up on a steamy bun with a sweet and sour sauerkraut relish (made in house), served with your choice of chips.

Pasta
Langostino Lobster Macaroni and Cheese
An extravagant artisanal version of grandma's classic made with cheddar, gruyere, fontina and Colby cheese, garnished with Langostino (rock lobster) tails. Guaranteed to be totally decadent.

Entrée
Pork Jaeger Schnitzel
This is our twist on the traditional Wiener Schnitzel. A tender pork cutlet is breaded and gently sautéed to perfect crispness then napped with Jaegar sauce (mushrooms, bacon and onion), and served with herbed spaetzle (tiny German dumplings) and sautéed Brussels sprouts.

The cafe is open to students, faculty, staff and the public.
